General Discussion / Viliv P2 Pmp To Run Linux
« on: June 27, 2006, 04:06:48 pm »
Anyone come across this yet? A Korean product. Looks interesting, though I don't think it's in production yet (to be released August 06 in Europe and USA??). It's supposed to run Linux or Windows CE.

I also have no problems using a WCF12 with my SL-C1000 and that version of Cacko.

Cagilaba, You get that from his grammar?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=110472\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Errr... no, it doesn't have anything to do with his grammar. Loloc (Loic Acher) participates actively in French PDA forums. Just do a search for loloc directfromjapan in Google. I have bought from him but got the impression that it was a pretty small-time operation (i.e. one person). So I was slightly worried about how warranty support would work out... luckily I haven't had to deal with that yet!

I think full disclosure is kind of important in a forum like this -- if you're advertising your business, make it clear who you are and don't post as if you've just "discovered" a wonderful new supplier.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Usb Keyboard With Rc12

Hmm... perhaps the answer to this question should be obvious, but sadly it isn't to me! I would be very grateful if someone could help me out here...

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Usb Keyboard With Rc12
« on: December 02, 2005, 05:19:29 pm »
Ok... this question has been asked a couple of times in other threads (including by me) but I haven't seen a response yet... On my C1000 I tried out RC12 with ROX and XFCE4 and found it absolutely GORGEOUS. I wanted to stay with it, but it seemed like my Fellowes Stowaway keyboard wouldn't work, and I really need it, so I switched to Cacko (which is great, but X is a real mini-laptop experience).

So, does anyone know if USB keyboards in general and the Fellowes kb in particular work under RC12? Am I just too st00pid to set it up right?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Now I have to see if I can connect to the WPA (Enterprise - TKIP, MSCHAP, PEAP etc. etc.) wireless at work...
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=104345\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Hmmm... Not having much luck with this. Anyone know if there are log files or something like that where I can view error messages that occur when I can't connect to a wireless network?

Also, anyone successfully connected to a WPA-Enterprise network (MSCHAPV2, PEAP, TKIP) could you possibly post your wpa_supplicant.conf? Thanks!

THANKS gsgmx!! That was really useful -- I've been trying unsuccessfully to get WPA-PSK working with my Linksys WCF12 and SL-C1000 for a day or two. Using the simple wpa_supplicant.conf you pointed out and adding scan_ssid=1 made all the difference.

(Thanks also to speculatrix who sent me useful info!).

I wonder why it doesn't work after waking from suspend? That's a little annoying.

I had to upgrade the station (secondary) firmware on my wifi card before it would work with WPA (flashed it to 1.8.4). All necessary tools are included in Cacko 1.23 full!
Thanks Maslovsky! (donation time, I think...)

I would recommend the following great page to anyone looking to update the firmware on their Prism-based card:

Now I have to see if I can connect to the WPA (Enterprise - TKIP, MSCHAP, PEAP etc. etc.) wireless at work...

Security and Networking / What Cf Cards Work With Wpa?
« on: November 07, 2005, 10:43:46 am »
Does anyone know if the Linksys WCF12 can be made to work with WPA? I *think* the firmware version on my card is 1.4.2 which it seems from this discussion doesn't support WPA.

Is there a way to upgrade the firmware on this card?

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Determine When A Cf Card Is Mounted?
« on: November 07, 2005, 08:57:40 am »
I'm not sure what you want to do with the script, but if you simply want to find out whether a CF is mounted, you can do "df -h" and look for /dev/hda1 which will be mounted at /mnt/cf or /usr/mnt.rom/cf. SD is /dev/mmcda1 at /mnt/card.

Just so things are clear: I believe Loloc is the owner of DirectFromJapan.net. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Vlc How-to?
« on: November 06, 2005, 07:49:34 am »
Wondering if anyone can help out - I installed VLC from the rc12 7x0/860 feed, but I can't figure out if it has a GUI. I can only launch it from the command line (plus it doesn't work very well - frames dropped etc. - but that's a whole other question).

Does VLC have a graphical interface?

Thx.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Idiot's Guide To Install Pdaxrom, Xfce4, And Rox

OK, I removed the line from xinitrc.xfce4. And I launched ROX manually, started setting up my session and eventually saved and quit -- this time the session saved fine!

No idea why it didn't work the previous times.

Usually ROX will stay if you saved the last session.  The rox --pinboard  command is probably sensitive to location.  Try putting it in after the XFCE-session line.  maybe this will help??  I have never experienced your problem.
Hi -- thanks for the reply -- unfortunately I had already tried both of these things, and neither of them worked...
<<edit>>
ROX does seem to be running, if I look at the processes, but it just doesn't display...

On C-1000 and RC12:

Finally got XFCE4 working thanks to these instructions and some I found elsewhere. It's fantastic! Really looks like a little computer.

However, I have a couple of problems.

I installed ROX and can launch it from within XFCE4; looks great. I added the line to launch ROX in xinitrc.xfce4 as indicated -- BUT when I run startxfce4, the rat screen comes up, then my ROX background flashes for a second, then the rat screen comes back, then XFCE4 opens and ROX doesn't seem to be running at all.

Also, does anyone know how to get CAPS LOCK working??

Thanks!
