C1000/3x00 Hardware / Seagate 8gb Cfii Hard Disk

Since it was working fine on the sl-c1000, but not on the PC, I reformatted on the PC. All is fine again now.
I only get a volume of 7.43GB on the supposed 8GB volume though. I expect to "lose" some, but that seems like too much, no?? Even with "view all files" enabled on the PC, the drive is empty, just only 7.43GB. IE: there are no lurking hidden files.

This is because drive makers are sneaky. They consider 8 gb to be 8,000,000,000 bytes but your ccomputer considers a gb to be 1024 * 1024 * 1024 bytes and not an equal 1 million.

Therefore your 8 gb "advertised size" is really only 7.45 gb in size.

Strange, this last flash seems to have worked. I got the fsck prompt and then reset and it came back.

From everything I've read, all I should have to do is reflash to the old ROM. Unfortunately, it never works! I can go back to OZ but flashing to the original Sharp ROM always produces some error in the filesystem. I can only assume that something in the OZ install has prevented me from going back to the old ROM.

If you do a search there are a few threads by Mickey on how to restore the 5500 to Sharpdom.

One thisng to check.  Is the image you'r flashing corrupt?  do an md5 to see

Okay, I was able to get OZ back on but I'd really like to know why I can't go back to the Sharp ROM.

Okay, I decided to go back to the Sharp ROM after playing around with OZ and just can't get anything to work! I downloaded several ROM's but I always get the same result. When I boot the Z, I get a message that "An error occurred during the file system check. Dropping you to a shell." I can't do anything from here. I checked the flash in the maintenance menu and it checks out fine. I even tried going back to OZ and that did not work.

Any help here would be appreciated.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Headaches Getting Thunderbird Working

I have installed Thunderbird and X/Qt but I now get the error "Illegal Instruction" when I fire it up. I had this version working on my C3000 but had to start from scratch after hosing the permissions for /home. Any ideas? I think I had this previously but can't remember what I did to get it working. Firefox works fine.

I figured out my issue. I had to configure PC Link before plugging the Zaurus in.

Okay, more info. When I plug the Zaurus into the PB w/the USB cable, I get the following messages:

Reinstalled the driver and used Onyx to repair permissions. Rebooted and still nothing. No new device is shown in the network preferences and I can't see one with an ifconfig command at a shell prompt. No messages at all in dmesg or in /var/log/system.log.

I am running 10.4.2.

Use Onyx to carry out  the maintenance of hard drive followed by the reinstallation.

The driver should work and my OS is Tiger 10.4.2.

I rebooted and even tried to reinstall it but it just asked me to upgrade. There are no messages in the console.

I installed this driver but the additional network adapter does not show up in the preferences. I am running Tiger and installed the proper version. Any ideas?

Please open the Console application and watch for messages from the driver (org.lucid-cake.ajzaurus). If there are none, something went wrong with the installation. Did you reboot?

Just picked up a SL-C3000 on Ebay and I'm loving it. Used an SL-5500 when it first came out but gave up on it for various reasons.

This time, I'm smart enough to keep around my Palm T3.

Anyway, I've installed the keypebble vnc viewer but can't connect to any servers. I've tried a couple and always get the error that the "host cannot be found".

Does this work on the SL-C3000 with the stock ROM?

Just picked up a SL-C3000 on Ebay and I'm loving it. Used an SL-5500 when it first came out but gave up on it for various reasons.

This time, I'm smart enough to keep around my Palm T3.
