« on: July 26, 2006, 08:41:34 pm »
Hello all,

I would like to sell my C3100 with lots of extras. It
is a wonderful device - but I do not have the time to
properly use it.

So here it comes:

- C3100 - as new, with screen protector applied
(guaranteed no scratches)
- one extra screen protector
- original power adapter
- original CD's
- USB cable and USB host cable
- PDAir leather case
- USB - Ethernet adapter
- 2 CF Wifi cards: Ambicom CF WL1100C and Symbol
Wireless Networker
- your choice of ROM installed (currently has OZ
OPIE/GPE dual boot)
- battery extender (use 4 AA batteries to power your Z
on the road)
- mini USB finger trackball
- Kensington mini USB mouse
- mini 4 port USB hub with power supply

I will put this up on ebay – unless I get a fair offer
here first. ( I live in the Toronto, ON area – so
shipping would be from here)

Please email me at x2000n at yahoo.com if interested.

Any news or progress?

I have tried Beta 4: it looked good, but there were too many issues with it...

I cant wait to try Beta 5, after experimenting currently with OZ...

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Angstrom - Working On Akita?

Is it possible to install Angstrom on akita?  When I tried following the basic steps, (download image, rename .img file to initrd.bin, updater.sh.akita to updater.sh, and zImage-2.6.16 . . . to zImage.bin) upon reboot I get a Kernel panic: not syncing no such device (I don't remember the exact wording, but basically it's not finding the kernel.)  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Would this also work on a C3100?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Mc In Gpe?

I am trying to use Midnight Commander in the GPE console.

MC requires the control key to use its menus. How can I access the control key in the GPE console?

Under OPIE one of the two japanase keys ( I forgot which one, and my Z is not at hand) works as Control ( same as in the Sharp rom). In GPE this does not work.

Any ideas?

Thank you...

Ummm, unless I'm very mistaken, all SL-Cxx00 models have a dedicated "Ctrl" key to the left of the two japanese keys.

You are right - and it does not work work to bring up the menus in MC.

Actually: maybe my initial post was misleading: maybe I need a function key?

Either way: can anyone please tell me, how to activate the menus in MC under GPE?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Screen Switches Off After A Short Time ?
« on: July 20, 2006, 12:19:05 pm »
I have installed recently GPE on a dual Opie / GPE setup.

All works more or less great  - however my unit switches the backlight off after a short while - and I am unable to bring it back on. ( The LCD is on, as it can be seen under a strong lamp)

Is there a fix for this?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Full Screen Games For Opie?
« on: July 20, 2006, 11:28:39 am »
Hello all,

I have installed a couple of games for Opie to my C3100.

None of them was full screen. The only full screen games were those, which were included in the default install of OZ/OP.

Is there a way to make those games full screen? Or: is there a feed / source to find (other) games, which are full screen?

Thank you for any comments...

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Opie / Gpe Stupid Problem

OK, I've got it figured out.  In between the "ipkg install -force-depends xserver-kdrive-fbdev" command and the next command which installs all the gpe base stuff, type "ipkg -force-depends remove bluez-utils-nodbus", then install the three gpe main packages and gpe should automatically boot.  (If you've already run "ipkg -force-depends install gpe-base-depends gpe-task-base gpe-task-settings, just rerun it after removing bluez-utils-nodbus).  Hope this helps!

Also, I can't get a regular user account to work in GPE after the initial load, it just keeps going back to the login screen, so I just use root, maybe you'll have more luck with it   .

Thank you alee16 - that helped. It works now!!!

Hello all,

I have downloaded all the required files as per the Wiki, so that I can run GPE on my Opie system.

All the installs went through fine

I have also change the VT terminal references in the opie config file.

All seems OK.

As per the Wiki GPE should now start. It does not. I am still in Opie, and have no idea how to start GPE.

I tried to change the VT with chvt - but no sign of GPE.

What am I doing wrong here?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=134930\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I had the same issue, I had to reflash OPIE, start over, and follow the wiki exactly, and everything worked perfectly.  I hope you don't have too much installed on OPIE!
Also, I didn't move root to an external card, there was plenty of space.

Thanks for the reply. I have reflashed, and did everything step by step as per wiki ( I did not move root - as I have enough space of my harddrive).

Same result: install goes through fine - but GPE does not show up.

Any other ideas how to launch GPE?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Battery Life Question

It may be to do with the more accurate battery level reporting.

OZ doesn't lie about the percentage - this means that even when fully charged, one of my batteries immediately falls to 80%.

Time it and see is probably the best bet, but I'd imagine that OZ is better.

I just switched from Cacko, and it definitely isn't worse in OpenZaurus, in fact, I think it is better (on C-1000).

Thank you. So maybe its my battery getting older...

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Battery Life Question
« on: July 12, 2006, 12:04:19 pm »
I am getting a feeling, that the battery life with OZ is (much?) shorter than it was with Cacko.

Is my battery dying ? Or is it really shorter?
