Angstrom - Working On Akita?
« on: July 13, 2006, 04:13:40 pm »
I am pretty sure Angstrom is in alpha stage - correct me if I'm wrong.

I've been trying to setup printing from the usb port on my akita for the past three weeks.  Koen suggested the cups_1.1.23-r1 package, but the only feed I can find it on is under Angstrom.  When I try to install it under regular OZ/GPE, it has dependency failures, and when I tried to install the newer libc6, it has an "error 127" and fails.  Then, nothing will work in GPE, no programs will load, they all say /bin/sh: (command): not found.

Is it possible to install Angstrom on akita?  When I tried following the basic steps, (download image, rename .img file to initrd.bin, updater.sh.akita to updater.sh, and zImage-2.6.16 . . . to zImage.bin) upon reboot I get a Kernel panic: not syncing no such device (I don't remember the exact wording, but basically it's not finding the kernel.)  Does anyone have any suggestions?

The cups package I was trying won't work in OZ, and I can't get Angstrom to work on my akita.

Umm, before you guys get your hopes a bit too high, please keep in mind that Angstrom at this time is largely untested and has probably loads of annyoing bugs.

If you do not intend to develop for angstrom, you should probably stick to OZ or any other distro of your liking

Yes, it will eventually replace OpenZaurus on the kernel 2.6 machines but it's not there yet.
