Astro Slide - Hardware / Keyboard Backlight
« on: December 11, 2022, 05:59:22 am »
The screen turns itself off after 3-5 minutes (or whatever you have set it to).

But the backlight stays on,  if I leave the Astro with the keyboard extended.  Even overnight.  Is there any way of changing this behaviour?

Gemini PDA - General Discussion / Anyone tried the lenovo M14 usb screen?
« on: October 31, 2019, 05:36:41 pm »
In terms of cabling, presumably you would need:

The Gemini connected to:
1)  The Gemini proprietary Male USB-c to Female HDMI cable,
connected to:
2)  A Male HDMI to Male USB-c cable,
connected to the M14.

Is that correct?

« on: July 25, 2019, 10:16:32 am »
I will be visiting the USA (from the UK).

Is there a short-term e-sim I can get from a US network, that works with the Gemini?

Thanks,

Highjohn

Gemini PDA - Android / Planmaker HD Versions
« on: December 28, 2018, 04:43:27 pm »
There are (in the UK) effectively four versions of Planmaker HD on Google Play.
[blockquote]1)  Planmaker HD Basic:  Free, but many functions are 'locked out'.

2)  Planmaker HD Basic:  £3.69 in-app purchase to unlock full functionality.

3)  Planmaker HD Trial:   Free, '30-day trial of Planmaker HD'.

4)  Planmaker HD Full:   £4.29[/blockquote]Questions:
[blockquote]a}  What is the difference between 2) and 4) ie 'Planmaker HD Basic (unlocked), and Planmaker HD Full?

b}  When I install and then try to run 3) Planmaker HD Trial, I get the following error message (have uninstalled and reinstalled, but same message):
 [ Invalid Attachment ]
Why?!
[/blockquote]Thanks,

John

Gemini PDA - Android / Using Three UK SIM and app in Android - "no SIM"
« on: October 28, 2018, 01:22:23 pm »
I recently got a PAYG Sim from Three, and I have the same issue with the Three app.

I have a free SIM from Three in the UK, it gives me 200MB a month free, which is just enough for my Gemini as it's my secondary device.

https://www.three.co.uk/Free_SIM_MBB/Order

Unfortunately the Three app you use to monitor the account doesn't work, says there's no SIM in the phone. This happens whether or not I disable the eSIM.

Is anyone else using Three and got their app to work?

Thanks

Gemini PDA - Android / GeminiLED notification app
« on: September 11, 2018, 07:33:51 am »
Does use of the LED lights cause a significant drain on the battery?

Especially when these lights can be on for several hours - eg in the middle of the night - before they are noticed.

Thanks,

John

Gemini PDA - Android / Restoring the default wallpaper

I have the exact same problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I posted the following query on the Gemini XDA forum right after I got my Gemini, and although someone confirmed the issue, there have been no actual solutions/answers. So I'm going to raise it again here. This does appear to be a bug.

OK, so I was playing with customisation options for my home screen, and although I actually really like the default dark blue starfield background that comes preset on the machine, I decided to swap it for an 'early morning sky' photo that I typically use on all my mobile devices. (It's a photo I took myself years ago, and works really well as a backdrop.)

After touching 'Set wallpaper', I elected to set my new background for both home screen AND lock screen. Fine; that worked OK and looks good. But I subsequently changed my mind and wished I'd stuck with the standard starfield for the lock screen. So I went back to the wallpaper options to change the lock screen only.

At this point I discovered the problem/bug. The thumbnail of the starfield picture is still there to be selected, and if I touch it, it covers the screen like it did before, so everything appears OK. However, when I click on 'Set wallpaper' and choose the option, regardless of what I choose (home screen, lock screen or both), there's a pause and then the starfield vanishes, leaving me with a completely black background. I can set the background image to any new photo that I supply myself without problems, but any attempt to reapply the original starfield graphic fails, which is rather a shame. UPDATE: I've just updated to the latest firmware (issued 13-06-2018), and there's no longer the pause and the black screen when trying to set the starfield; i.e. setting the starfield APPEARS to work. HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT ACTUALLY WORK! The final outcome is still the same – i.e. the lock screen ends up with a totally black background (no graphic at all).

Can anyone tell me where I can locate the starfield graphic on the system? I've tried browsing the file system (with hidden files visible) but haven't found it. Or can anyone perhaps supply the file so that I can copy it back to the device if perhaps it only now exists in a cache or some such problem? I'd really like to get the image back.

Thank for any help.

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Take off screen protector?
« on: July 01, 2018, 01:30:42 pm »
Ok, simple question:  how do I get the screen protector off !?

I've tried peeling it away from a corner, but I've made no headway.  And I don't want to take a more 'brute force' route, in case I scratch something.

Cheers.

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Using usb-c to connect to monitor
« on: February 07, 2018, 03:58:24 pm »
If I have a monitor that takes usb-c input, can I use it - with one of the Gemini usb-c ports - to display the Gemini screen?

Thanks.
