@ jon_J: have you tried removing illustrator garbage and compresing the pdf a bit with PDFshrink?  ?

get the C1000, you wont regret it. I used mostly Palm in the past, and hated the lack of true multitasking, forced to use several hacks/applications to do simple things. With palm you're inside a sandbox and limited IMO. The zaurus isn't a PDA  like mentioned before, it's a laptop replacement. Having a terminal  that fits in my pocket is priceless for me
I bought a palm lifedrive  1 month before the zaurus, and the palm is collecting dust, it's like a kids toy ;-)

For PIM I also highly recommend the kde applications. I used the palm applications and Iambic agendus in the past, with kde you'll feel right at home!

ease of use?  If you use linux at home it will be very easy for you, I'm a Mac user and the zaurus is the perfecting device to learn linux stuff and the GUI is as easy as palm

Japanese leftovers? I installed mcconvert_0.1a_arm.ipk, deleted some Japanese dictionaries and I can't remember the last time I saw kanji (apart from the kanji printed on the keyboard off course)

long story short, say bye bye to boring palm os and enter the world of the PMT

wow, you mean at the moment you are using the built in PIM? you'll be amazed by ko/pie and friends. Daylite is just an example, ical can export/import ics files fine.

I basicly gave up on searching for a complete sync solutions like palm's hotsync ; My main agengda is on my laptop, so I export everything every 2 days as 1 big .ics and import this in programs from http://www.pi-sync.net/  works great for me. you can setup a simple script that deletes the old file and replaces it with the new exported file, the oposite is also possible, export on the zaurus to .ics and import in ical (I use daylite)

I have done this a few times now and it's easy. One thing to mention, folow the instructions but also do the folowing while booted with db
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hdc1
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hdc2
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hdc3

don't ask me why, but without this my zaurus was still unstable with a fresh install (no backup)

it will take some time (30 minutes) but is worth it, so no need for someone to send you a 4gb image

me!!! For me the C3000 was the best design, c3200 worst. IMO 2 colours on the keyboard look odd, and the red accents...not for me. I'm surprised trisoft doesn't have the C3200 yet, I saw a couple of days ago kd85 has it in stock , I want another zaurus but the design is not my taste... decisions decisions...

I think I found a bug;  when exporting my contacts to a container vcf file (1 vcf file containing multiple adresses) on my computer, and try to import them in KA/Pi it freezes the zaurus, I'm running 2.2.7...

Hi there,

I'm trying to install qpdf2_freetype-2.2.1-20040217_arm.ipk on my C3000. (read about it on meanie's site)
when using the GUI installer, there is no package inside to be found, using terminal


#ipkg install qpdf2_freetype-2.2.1-20040217_arm.ipk
   
    zcat: qpdf2_freetype-2.2.1-20040217_arm.ipk: nog in gzip format
    zcat: stdin: unexpected end of file
ipkg_install_file: ERROR unpacking control.tar.tgz from qpdf2_freetype-2.2.1-20040217_arm.ipk


I already tried about 10 versions found on the net, I can not install one. Could somebody point me to a version that installs OK, or tell me what I'm  doing wrong?

oh god I would sell my mother for a 3100 with built in wifi/bt and bigger screen, I hope Sharp is reading these forums ;-)
