Cosmo Communicator - Android / Re: Android v25 Firmware

I have addressed the issues in the README. I suspect people are downloading HTML as a 'zip'.
Your a star, I was able to use your OTA package to update my Cosmo to v25, thanks.

I think your confusing OS version and firmware version. The Cosmo only runs Android 9 Pie, it was never updated beyond that. However we don't even have the latest version of the Android 9 firmware.

Unfortunately I sent Planet multiple messages and got multiple automated tickets but never got a response from them.

Unfortunately no one's got it, I've emailed Planet multiple times over a month ago now and they don't respond. I assume there's some sort of issue with V25 otherwise they would provide it.

If it were me I would try it but I didn't encounter issues updating the android firmware. I just had to do it manually as the OTA update doesn't work for me. Codi was a bit of an ordeal to update though. It's your decision of course, but if you did decide to update it and it all goes south, then you could probably use these instructions to go back to the previous update:

That's interesting, I assume the issue is with my request and they are choosing not to reply. Can I ask what you think to your Astro, how does the keyboard compare to the Cosmo?

Oh I see, I know the Gemini had hinge issues, I was hoping the Cosmo would be better. They don't seem to be the most communicative company. Do you even get the option to upgrade to V25?

To some extent that's reassuring it lasted 5 years. Can I ask what version of android your using is it V25?

Can I ask how long you've had your Cosmo? I believe the Cosmo and Gemini keyboards have 2 key rollover, probably a limitation inherited from the Psion 5mx. So I think the additional characters that are sometimes registered with certain key combinations beyond 2 keys is likely unfixable by software.

However the double registering of keys, and I've tried this, tapping a key relatively slowly repeatedly in the notes app, at random intervals it will suddenly register multiple presses with a single press. I believe that should be fixable in software. There was some keyboard firmware improvements in the V25 which gave me some hope but I haven't been able to install it. I've contacted Planet about both the keyboard and the update issue but am yet to receive a response in the last couple of weeks.

Oh ok fair enough missed that.

I was sceptical too I must admit but DCHL has this statement on shipping Lion batteries in the UK:

"You can send lithium-ion batteries within the UK, as long as the battery is fitted within the device. For example, if you are sending a mobile phone, make sure the battery is installed in the phone and you don’t send a spare battery or powerbank loose in the package."

I contacted them at hello@planetcom.co.uk and got a Zendesk response on both occasions. I assume my query is not straightforward which is why they are not replying. Can I ask how long they normally take to get back to you in your case?

Oh ok, I nearly wiped it yesterday good job I didn't. I have contacted Planet twice but they don't respond. The Cosmo was supposed to get Android 11 once they'd had the experience of implementing it on the Astro, I think Planet are a bit short staffed to do it though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if that's just the bootloader, doesn't that mean there's no way for me to upgrade to V25 right now, because I don't have an image for it and the OTA doesn't work?

Hi guys,

I've finally got it working again after I'm not sure how many attempts. After leaving the phone on all day in airplane mode and do not disturb on, I reset the cover display and tried again and it worked. It seems much more likely to fail when the phone hasn't been on very long, perhaps because something in the background interrupts it.
