it appears that the firmware for the codi now works, however i do not fully know what fixed this. The initial issue was that the firmware was an unrecognised version, and subsequently trying to update it appeared to fail, however seemingly by random the next day the codi was working again. im completely lost for why this could be the case but regardless this has left me with more questions than answers. However, my cosmo appears to work fine now, thank you for the advice.

I am using a recently bought second hand cosmo communicator which has since been factory reset. When trying to update the android firmware outlined at https://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/Cosmo_Android_Firmware_Manual_Installation I have the issue that the recovery mode in which the "Change the partition table of your COSMO" and "Install Custom OS on your COSMO" options are entirely ommited.

Ive so far ruled out the SD card being the issue as ive tried multiple of varying capacity.
Ive tried every provided version of android including 19, 22, and 23.
Ive also tried installing linux only to encounter the same issue.
Possibly worth noting is that the text under the android character just before the recovery screen is in japanese despite the system language being set to english and having a US keyboard.

I am fairly unfamilar with android and am hoping that this is a simple oversight on my part, but any help or information would be appreciated! :)

EDIT: was able to update to android firmware v22 using by following https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?topic=36336.0 which seemed to resolve the issue with the options not appearing, however the codi has stopped working since doing this with the firmware not being recognised and unable to update automatically or manually.
