C1000/3x00 General discussions / Can Not Sync The Correct Data
« on: April 04, 2007, 09:32:58 am »
Cresho,

Thanks a million for responding.

I will try to locate the Kopi program.  As you can see I am a real novice at this.  The problem is that I have two address/contact programs on my C1000.  The first program is the one that came with the C1000.  The other one (this one contains  my contact data files) is a program that I transfered from my old 5500 call tkcAddressbook. The sync function read only the orignal contact program.  I want to sync from the program that has my contact data,  but I have not found a way to change the current syncing default to this program.

Hope this helps.  Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Again, thanks

I finally got my C-1000 to see my computer but now I realize that I can not get the data that is in my address book program to sync with Outlook.

The problem appears to be that the default for syncing on the C1000 uses the data that is in the "Address Book" software that comes with system.  I purchased and installed "theaddressbook" from theKompany.com.  Unfortuantely, the sync function on the C-1000 evidently does not see the information in the data file of this program.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?  Is there a way to either change the default in the sycn function for the C1000 to see my "theaddressbook" data files or is there a way to transfer the information that is in this program to the system default program "Address Book"?

Also, does anyone know of a software program that has an export function that works on the C-1000?

General Discussion / Syncing My C-1000 To My Outlook
« on: January 29, 2007, 10:47:18 am »
I have been able to sync my C-1000 to my computer and it appears that my C-1000 is seeing my computer. However, I can not get my contacts to transfer to my computer or vise versa.  When the sync process finishes, non of my contact information on either devise has changed.  Can someone shed some light on what I might be doing wrong?

Also, is there anyway I can sync my C-1000 to my Blackberry?

Most of Meanies stuff works fine on a 1000 - you just don't have as much space.

Command lines are entered via the console app (or Konsole in the case of Cacko which is the ROM I use). I think Meanie recommends installing and using Konsole on standard Sharp ROMs.

Hey it worked.  I was able to go to trisoft.de and obtain their detailed instructions for syncing.  Thanks for the help.

Getting the 1000 to sync is a bit of a hassle - you need to searach the forums for a fuller explanation (I think trisoft.de have a file online that describes this). From memory...

You install the software for the 5500, copy the contents of the install directory somewhere safe and uninstall the software. Then install the CL-1000 software and copy the saved 5500 software over the 1000 files. This gets you the English version with the right settings for the 1000.

However, I've only used it to sync Palm Desktop rather than Outlook.

What are you using for your address book and calendar? Korganizer or the default Sharp apps?

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Problems Syncing C1000 To Laptop

I have had my C1000 for sometime now but have not tried to sync with my laptop.  I am an old SL5500 user but I always had difficulty with the syncing process.  But now I want to sync my contacts and schedule with Microsoft Outlook.

I have loaded the PC Synchronization Software from the disk I received when I purchased the SL5500.  I am still not able to get the two devices to see each other.

Can someone walk me through how to troubleshoot to get the C1000 to sync with Outlook.  It would be helpful to have basic steps needed to complete this process if possible.  If there is a good site that has clear instructions, I could use that as well.

Also, I have reviewed Meanies' site.  There is a lot of good information there; much of which I do not understand.  One question though, is the C1000 similar enough to the C3000-C3100 so that I can use some of his suggestions for customizing my C1000?  Another question is how do you enter command lines in the C1000?  Is there a program I should do this in when customizing the C1000?

Thanks for any help

General Discussion / Problems With My New C1000
« on: January 25, 2006, 02:22:29 pm »
I need Help!

I am a  SL-5500 user for the last 3 years or so.  I love my Zaurus but it was time for me to update to something with more memory and a better display.  I have loaded so many programs, that I keep getting error messages that I was running low on memory. I really love my 5500 so I wanted to stay with a Linux system.  I have also received great reliability with Sharp products over the years so I wanted to stay with a Zaurus device.

After reading a number of reviews including one from Gelhaus.net, I decided to go with the SL-C1000.  I realized that this product was only made  for the Japanese market, but I thought that  I could make the transition since I already owned a 5500.  Also after reading the Gelhaus.net review and other postings I thought it would not be to difficult.  I am not techically inclined by any means, but I thought I could make the change with little difficulty, especially with the large user network.

I was wrong.   When I tried to startup my C1000 and install the English based ROM, my system got hang up and I forgot that I should perform a Hard-Reset by pressing the small black button in the battery compartment.  Instead, I took out the battery.  Being a SL-5500 user and I should have remembered the Hard-Reset, but it was late and I was tired and I just forgot about this process.  In the back of my mind I knew I should not have taken out the battery while it was still hung up, but I was impatient.  Now when I turn the device on, all I get is the start up page with the "Sharp" logo, one line of something in Japanese and a blinking cursor line at the bottom left. I have taken out the battery for 5 seconds and tried to restart by simultaneously holding the "OK" button and turning on the device, but nothing happens.

Is there anything that I can now do to bring the Zaurus back to factory state so that I can continue to install the ROM?  Also, does anyone have complete instructions on how to best do this?

Also, is there a English version of the Operating Manual.  I find that I am somewhat lost without one.  I know Sharp made the SL-C1000 only for the Japanese market but I was hoping someone has developed one.

Thanks,
