General Discussion / Lcd Display Of C1000 Look Pale Yellow
« on: March 30, 2006, 04:35:53 pm »
I have a Treo650 on the Sprint PCS network. I have a C1000 with Cacko 1.23 full. I was able to pair the two with the socket bluetooth card v2.5 in the Z.  The phone has been updated with v1.12a software which has the "official" DUN enabled and endorsed by sprint. The manual came with instructions in its use.  I was able to get it to work with the laptop using a BT dongle.  I am unable to get past "Initializing Modem ..."  using the hcitool i can scan and find the treo. the treo finds the zaurus. I can pair them (put in passkey on the phone).  I know the card works with the stack in PAN mode as i can link the Z to the laptop.  I need to know the console commands to test DUN with this rfcomm stuff on the Zaurus.  Any info or links to troubleshooting info for this rfcomm would be helpful.  I guess i should install minicomm on the zaurus as well.  I suspect the init string should be something other than ATZ in the BT network applet, but i am not sure.  Please help, thanks so much

Security and Networking / Bluetooth Dun Problems

Your phone should then tell you the Z is connecting and ask for confirmation

Type "AT" followed by return and you should get an OK. If you don't

Type "AT+CRC=1" to turn on extended ring messages. Ring the phone and it'll tell you it's a voice, data or fax call.

Ok I finally got some time to try this.   The when I do the minicom command the phone states the Zaurus is trying to connect, but before I have time to respond minicom returns saying file rfcomm0 doesn't exist.   I tried to initiate the pairing using the phone and this seemed to work.  minicom says "initialising modem" then goes to a screen that says "T102" at the bottom, At this point any key pressed on the Zaurus keypad results in the following appearing at the bottom (in inverted video):

Code: [Select]
Online 00:00
 Â    Offline

Note:  I also tried this with my Nokia 6310i and it worked as expected. I could issue AT commands fine and get the response back ok.

(Incidently I managed to obtain an Anycom BT card [LSE039] and the results are the same.)

On a forum for the SPV and other smartphones someone suggested that I tried using "sdptool search" and I achieved the following results:-

For Serial
Code: [Select]
bash-2.05# sdptool search --bdaddr 11:22:33:44:55:66 SP

Searching for SP on 11:22:33:44:55:66 ...

 Â "Serial Port" (0x1101)
Protocol Descriptor List:
 Â "L2CAP" (0x0100)
 Â "RFCOMM" (0x0003)
 Â   Channel: 3

for DUN
Code: [Select]
bash-2.05# sdptool search --bdaddr 11:22:33:44:55:66 DUN

Searching for DUN on 11:22:33:44:55:66 ...
Service Name: Dial-up Networking
Service RecHandle: 0x10003
Service Class ID List:
 Â "Dialup Networking" (0x1103)
Protocol Descriptor List:
 Â "L2CAP" (0x0100)
 Â "RFCOMM" (0x0003)
 Â   Channel: 7

 Â base_offset: 0x100

 Â "Dialup Networking" (0x1103)
 Â   Version: 0x0100

I've tried putting both channels 3 and 7 in the rfcomm.conf file, but both just hang on "initialising modem".

I've read somewhere on these forums about enabling logging, would this help me diagnose the problem?   I guess I should also see if I can get the phone to dial from my windows machine using the bluetooth dongle.

I was able to connect to my phone with the laptop and a BT dongle. that worked fine.  I believe it is an initialization string issue or something to do with rfcomm setup on the zaurus.  I am using sprint pcs and have enabled dun on the phone and paired it with the zaurus and the laptop.  I could use some help setting up the connection from the Zaurus to the phone. I am using Cacko 1.23 full.  I have the addons for BT DUN and BT PAN and have a socket BT card that i can scan with and connect with the laptop with PAN (however samba is not browsing the zaurus from windows, pinging works both ways, but that is another story.) I am using a zaurus SL-C1000.  Please help.

Yep, I only use Yahoo and the same thing happens to me, all other apps i use so far are working fine. Gaim is giving me issues.  I am using Cacko 1.23 with an Ambicom WL1100C-CF adapter. The socket BT adapter works fine as well. Hardware works flawlessly so far with this flash. I am very happy.  If I get gaim working for IRC and Yahoo, I will be victorious!!  Please help us.  Thanks so much guys for the great work you do on this forum

Sharp ROMs / Cacko ROM Question
« on: March 02, 2006, 02:28:34 am »
Ok, now I feel like a real newbie.  I mean I always "knew" I was, but I just did something to make me "feel" like one.  Anyway, I looked thru the menus and found a Language submenu, and well ... yeah, its fixed.  Turns out the program is shareware.  I will use this some more see if it does what i need, cut, copy, and paste files. If so I will register it as so far it looks to be commercial quality software.  Sorry to have disturbed you guys. I will continue to read in silence for a month now, unless I have a "real" problem.

Sharp ROMs / Cacko ROM Question

With my C750s screen I use MC (midnight commander) as a file manager and text editor. I didn't even install the apps I've built myself for the 5500
Is there a MC compiled for the Qt ROMs? The MC that was compiled for the X11 ROM will accept screen taps, however, I haven't found a MC version that for the QT ROMS that works as well. However, I find that using the key board with MC is still superior to Tree Explorer QT.

I am new here on this board and just got a Zaurus C1000. I am using the new Cacko version 1.23 full and have both MC (included) and Tree Explorer QT Plus (tried the non plus version, same issue) installed.  I would like to get further knowledge of the internal keyboard to maximize the use of MC which is certainly one of my favorite programs on desktop linuces. I will endeavor to learn the keyboard of this new machine in all its nuances.  I have an issue with Tree Explorer, which I think is an awesome gui file manager and am excited to work with more. The issue is that I have boxes where there should be characters.  These look like place holders for characters and i suspect a font issue, but am not certain. They appear in the menus, title bars and in the window.  I just noticed that they are in a companion program Tree Text QT as well.  All the features work that i have tried (but i am reluctant to try many not knowing what i am clicking on).  I really dig the look of these programs and all the tiny icons.  I am wondering if my installation is missing something (library, font, etc.) to make this work or if anyone else has overcome this can help me get to the bottom of this.  Thanks for your patience and knowledge.
