Quick SD Format:
in the Konsole Login as
su

type:
#mkfs.msdos /dev/mmcda1
#mount /dev/mmcda1 /mnt/card

And it work  (my SLC-760, can read the 2GB SD Card)

Sharp ROMs / Does Cacko Rom V1.23 Support 2gb Sd?
« on: April 06, 2006, 07:36:05 am »
Hello,

I've just bought a 2GB SD and assume that it was working, when I insert into SD slot the system hang/very slow for 1 minute after that it is back to normal.

When I go to the Konsole and type
mount, I get:
/dev/root on / type jffs2 (ro)
/proc on /proc type proc (rw)
/dev/ram1 on /dev type minix (rw)
/dev/loop0 on /usr type squashfs (ro)
/dev/mtdblock3 on /home type jffs2 (rw,noatime)
none on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw)
none on /dev/pts type devpts (rw)
/dev/hda1 on /usr/mnt.rom/cf type vfat (rw,noatime)

I've tried:
fdisk /dev/mmcda

You will not be able to write the partition table.

Unable to read /dev/mmcda

Does this mean that Cacko Rom v1.23 does not support 2GB SD? or am I doing something wrong.

I should have check before I went out and buy the 2GB which I found a lot of user reported that it is not working.

my Zaurus is SLC-760

I've tried:
mount /dev/mmcda /mnt/card
mount: permission denied. Are you root?

I don't know how to login as root.

Thanks in advance.

opie-reader has some chm capability. I don't use chm files myself and the codec was developed by someone else (thanks Bob) so I don't know the extent of the support for chm but I do know some people use it.

The version for Sharp compatible roms can be downloaded here.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=121576\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
It can open the chm, while cannot decode it very well. I have problems in reading some books.
Meanie, can you also integrate the xchm into xqt-apps? I'm using your xqt squashfs packages. It's great!

Thank Your mandjab,

I thought that would be the case, because I have been looking and never find one. There is one, but it was for pocket PC.

Anyway, I guess I would do what you suggest (Extract chm to html).

[span style=\'font-size:12pt;line-height:100%\']Assume:
You have install Zaurus PC Driver.
SL series Ver3 (NDIS 5)

You have a DHCP Server.
(My is the Wireless Router with inbuild DHCP Server (192.168.1.1/24))

[/span]

On My "Windows XP SP2" I have the following NIC.
1. (NIC-PC) <-- Physical
2. (NIC-Zaurus) <-- Virtual (Only appear when I connect the Zaurus USB Cable).

Step 1 (Perform on PC).
Make sure your Zaurus USB Cable is connected to the PC, so that the Zaurus Virtual NIC appear.

1. Select NIC-PC and then Right Click and Select Properties.
2. Click on the Advanced Tab

3.Then Check the box:
Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection

Under Section Home networking connection:
select your [ZAURUS NIC]

4. Then Click on the OK Button.

Note: Once the above step is perform, you'll see that your Zaurus NIC IP is now Manually set to 192.168.0.1

Network Layout:
Code: [Select]
NIC-PC (IP)          NIC-Zaurus (IP)
192.168.1.100/24     192.168.0.1/24

Step 2 (Perform on Zaurus).
Modify /etc/hotplug/usbdnet.conf
DHCPS=yes
DHCPC=no

to

DHCPS=no
DHCPC=yes

(This make zaurus to automatically obtain an IP Address from a DHCP Server when the USB Cable is connected to the PC

After the file (usbdnet.conf) is modify, unplug the USB cable from the PC and Re-Connect the USB Cable.

Note:
/etc/resolv.conf (automatically update with the information from the DHCP Server).

eg: on my zaurus /etc/resolv.conf
I have 3 entry as follow:
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (DNS)
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (DNS)
search www.xxx.com

When I do a ping from zaurus to www.yahoo.com.au (it work).

Step 3 Connect to Internet
Open On Zaurus | Network | Opera Browser.

You'll see a dialog box
Aborted
--------------------
Dummy-Device Drop Down List
Connect Button
-----------------

Just ignore the above dialog box (Don't click on the Connect Button).

You need to install Dummy-Device (IPK) on Zaurus
(Just install, don't need to set anything).
http://web.mol.ru/~zaurus/feed/dummydev_0.01-1_arm.ipk

You can start surfing by going to your favorite site.

On Opera Browser Menu (The 2nd Icon)
Click Navigation | Go to page
then type your url: www.google.com
then press enter

I did a test on www.google.com and it work!

==============================================
If you want to use Netfront Browser to Browse you have to do some extra work:

Open Netfront Browser you see a dialog box
Connection Prompt
---------------------
No connection to the network.
Connect Now?
Yes | No

Click on the No button.

Another Dialog box appear:
Warning
-------------
Cancelled loading the page
OK button

Click on the OK button.

Now open the KConsole/Terminal type:
qcop QPE/Network "up()"

then press Enter.

you can now switch back to the Netfront browser and start Sufing.

 Happy Surfing.

I can't get USB LAN to work on my Zaurus c760:

On Network preferences I create a new connection (USB Lan TCP/IP) (dynamic or static ip; i tried both). Then I connect the Zaurus to my PC (Windows 2000) and click on the connect button. It keeps trying (ray over plug) but nothing happens.

It seems like the PCLink option is taking control over the USB LAN TCP/IP because it sets the IP specified on PCLink menu.

If I open a terminal and set the ip with dhcpcd, i can get an ip addres, and i can even browse the Web with Opera. But the other programs on the zaurus keep asking me to connect.

I have also tried setting the same IP on both the PCLINK and NETWORK menus, but it doens't work either.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks and excuse my poor English.

Sharp ROMs / Connect To Internet Via Z-usb Cable/xp_sp2?
« on: April 01, 2006, 12:18:16 am »
Thank your uth,

I've tried the Windows XP Internet Connection Sharing Approach without a success.

I only have a limited understanding of networking, you have help me understand about the Windows IP Address in the "route add .." statement, it has always been a mystery to me.

and now I have a better understanding of the file:
/etc/hotplug/usbdnet.conf (Define DHCP (Server/Client) when USB is connected).
/etc/resolv.conf (Define DNS Server)

I have successfully connect to internet via Windows XP SP2 Network Bridge.
I was suppose to reply to this post, but I clicked on the new post button therefore the it is at:

Attempt 1:
Connect To Internet Via Z-usb Cable (xp Bridge)

I'll give the above approach (Internet Connection Sharing) another try.

Attempt 2:
Connect To Internet Via Z-usb Cable (xp ICS)

It is now working.

192.168.1.100/24     192.169.1.200/24

Note: Once the above step is perform, you'll see another connection is created by Windows Named: Bridge

If you select the properties of this connection, you'll see that the NIC-PC and NIC-Zaurus is added in here.

If you issue a command on Windows from the command prompt (CMD.EXE)
Code: [Select]
ipconfig /all
You'll see that you now have only 1 NIC with IP Address obtain from DHCP.
Before the NICs is bridge you have 2 NIC with 2 separate IP Address.

Sharp ROMs / Connect To Internet Via Z-usb Cable/xp_sp2?
« on: March 31, 2006, 07:00:02 am »
Hello,

I am looking for a way to connect zaurus to internet surfing the web via USB Cable with "Netfront" or "Opera".

I have:
0. Cable Modem
1. Wireless PC Router (Also have build in DHCP)
2. Windows XP Professional SP2 (PC1)
3. Zaurus (Cacko Rom v1.23)

[ISP] -- assign ip address to --> [Cable Modem].
[cable modem] -- assign ip address to --> [wireless router]
[wireless router] -- assign private ip address to --> [PC1]
[Zaurus]  -- assign private ip address to -- [PC1 (Virtual Zaurus Network Card)]

DHCP IP Address Range: 192.168.1.1/24 - 192.168.1.254/24
Zaurus Server: 192.168.129.201/24
Zaurus Client: 192.168.129.1/24

From my understanding, because I have 2 private address
I need to setup NAT on Windows XP as Internet Connection Sharing.

Windows XP Setup:
I have setup Internet Connection on (PC - NIC)
Pointing to (PC - Zaurus NIC) as the private connection.

How do I setup Zaurus to talk to this NAT?

-----------------------------------------------
I've read from the posting of some forum article on the internet

Step 1.
Add something like:
/sbin/route add defaut gw <xp machine ip> to /etc/resolv.conf

    what does xp machine ip (mean?) does it mean
    my PC-NIC IP Address (192.168.1.20)
                      or
    my PC-Zaurus NIC ip address (192.168.129.1)?

Step 2.
In the file /etc/hotplug/usbdnet.conf make sure it have
IP=192.168.129.201
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
DHCPS=yes
DHCPC=no

Step 3.
Start up Netfront (Ignore Connection Error)
from the Konsole type:
     qcop QPE/Network "up()"

I have enable all the Service on Windows XP Internet Sharing
    eg: HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/POP3/SMTP ...

I have also check that the windows firewall have the connection in the exception list.

When I do a ping from my zaurus to
eg: www.microsoft.com

I got an error message destination not reachable!

Any Idea what I have missed?
I can ping from Zaurus to PC (ping 192.168.129.1)
I can ping from PC to Zaurus (ping 192.168.129.201)
-----------------------------------------------
