Angstrom & OpenZaurus / 3.5.4.2 Rc1 And Bad Kernel With Collie Inst Pkg
« on: September 01, 2006, 07:36:16 pm »
The installation package provided for the collie for 3.5.4.2 RC1 and OPIE has a bad kernel (zImage), for there is a kernel mismatch when the device is booted.  Has anyone else picked up on this?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Hentges 3.5.4.1 And Malformed Screen...
« on: September 01, 2006, 07:31:46 pm »
Whenever I boot the Hentges 3.5.4.1 ROM with the zImage-collie-32-0-2.. and OPIE initrd, as soon as OPIE starts on my 5000D, I get an incorrect resolution on my screen with the "A new storage media detected: SD Card What should I do with it?" window. I cannot see the buttons on the bottom of the window due to the resolution. I cannot do anything nor see anything else. How do I resolve this issue?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Hentges 3.5.4.1 For Collie

So when will the final release of 3.5.4.1 be issued?  Sorry if this seems like an uneducated question.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / __.ipk With Ipkg On Sl-5500 (and '-dest Sd')...
« on: April 05, 2006, 02:32:38 pm »
ipkg always attempts to retrieve a mysterious, nonexistent file called __.ipk.

I get the following whenever I attempt to install a package using ipkg.  Take for instance, xkbd:

Installing xkbd...Done.
ldconfig: file /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5.0.7 is truncated

filename - __.ipk

Code: [Select]

ipkg_download: ERROR: Failed to retrieve http://mail.pdaxrom.org/contrib/zumi/__.ipk, returning
ipkg_get_install: Perhaps you need to run `ipkg update'?

Does anyone know why it attempts to install this mysterious package?  A check of /etc/ipkg.conf reveals nothing out of order...  It is present no matter what feeds I have listed in the file.

Also, I attempted to use the '-dest sd' and '-d /mnt/card' flags with ipkg, and it will not install to my SD card.  What is the issue there?

In addition, note how many of these downloaded files are truncated.  That is not good.  Anyone have an explanation for this?

This is on a fresh installation of 1.1.0beta1 on the SL-5500.

Thanks.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Package Manager Freezes Oz 3.5.4
« on: April 05, 2006, 02:05:45 pm »
I am installing the SSH packages to SD.  This is on a fresh installation of OZ 3.5.4, and it never fails to hang every time...  I know it works with ipkg because I have to complete the installation using it.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Libsdl Applications Not Working With Oz 3.5.4
« on: April 04, 2006, 06:24:16 pm »
Both e-uae and Frodo (4.2-r1) do not work straight from package installation from the 3.5.4 feed.  I believe that it is a libSDL problem.  I see mentions to this problem in earlier posts, but not concerning 3.5.4...

Here is a detailed account of my problems with Frodo:

The icon for Frodo under Games doesn't do anything.

Upon further inspection, when I type `frodo` at the command prompt, I get this:
-sh: frodo: Permission denied

`which frodo` reveals:
/opt/QtPalmtop/bin/frodo

which is a directory...

if I attempt to run frodostart under /opt/QtPalmtop/bin/frodo, I get:

error: CmdPipe: unable to execute child process wish
~CmdPipe child process returned error

I installed the package by using `ipkg install frodo -dest sd` and then
`ipkg-link add frodo`

This is with the SL-5500 or collie.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Usb Network Drivers (usbd0) And Oz 3.5.4
« on: April 04, 2006, 06:03:39 pm »
I have found that the USB network drivers that OZ uses are somewhat unstable when used with the Sharp Windows NDIS5 drivers.  Of course, the official Sharp ROMs exhibit the same behavior.

pdaXrom does not exhibit unstable behavior in this way, so I assume that it is an issue that can be addressed.

Occassionally the network connection will drop out, especially when there is heavy activity on the Zaurus (like when using the Package Manager or ipkg from the command line).

Can this be looked into?

BTW, this is on the SL-5500, or collie.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Package Manager Freezes Oz 3.5.4
« on: April 04, 2006, 05:59:48 pm »
The Package Manager in OZ 3.5.4 will freeze everytime you attempt to install all of the 'ssh' packages (set a filter for all packages with 'ssh' in the name).  This is regardless of whether dropbear has been removed or not.

The result is a hung Zaurus that needs to be rebooted.

This is on the SL-5500, or collie.
