Ubuntu / Zubuntu 2.0 Released
« on: December 22, 2009, 04:35:11 am »
Quote from: cortez
Zubuntu v2.0 is available and can be downloaded here. The image is intended for spitz devices (SL-C3000, SL-C3100 and SL-C3200) but after a quick check most seems to work on the Akita (SL-C1000) as well.

Things I need to check on the Akita are suspend/resume (white screen, doesn't suspend) and the irda driver bails out with an error.
More info can be found on my blog. Please be so kind to give your feedback, report problems, share fixes, enhancements etc.

Have fun!

Cheers,
cortez

Nice job cortez!

I have Zubuntu 1.0 with 9.04 rootfs on my SL-7500C (C7x0) and Zubuntu 2.0 on my C1000. The 2.0 does look nicer but is much slower than 1.0. (The SD cards that I use are of similar quality). Is this because 2.0 uses lxde while 1.0 uses IceWM?

Still trying to figure out how to get my Wifi card to work...

Ubuntu / Howto: Zubuntu Installation On Sl-c760

Let me know how it's going so that I can update the webpage if neccessary

regards

Bernd

It went pretty well. I just took my previous installation and applied your changes. Touch screen worked pretty well. I was also able to use USB network to connect to the internet via my Windows XP box.

However, rtc is NOT working for me. Everytime I reboot it went back to 1970. The other issue is that when I leave the device in sleep mode for a while and turn it back on, sometimes X will freeze or go blank. The only way to get out of it seems to be pulling out the battery. I was able to get sound with your alsamixer settings but for only for one channel.

I will try more things later.

Thanks for sharing. I will try this tonight on my sl-c760 variation: SL-7500C. BTW, google web page translation helped because I don't read Germany.

Anybody tried it on R198?

I installed it and got the following error after started:

mb-applet-powerctrl: failed to open /proc/driver/fl/corgi-bl.
mb-applet-powerctrl: failed to open /proc/zaurus/VCORE.
...

and when using it, I got a lot of:
mb-applet-powerctrl: failed to open /proc/zaurus/VCORE.

and the speedstep thing didn't happen.

Any idea?

No, a make clean is not required... but it is the best thing to do with out running into headaches... (depending on the change)...

Do a "rm -rf /opt/cross/arm/3.4.6-xscale-softvfp-akita/share"

Late

Thanks InSearchOf! That made the making forwarded a little bit.

Error again in making target: tslib.prepare:

Is my @INC correct?

Well, I did "make clean" then "make world" but on making automake I got the following error:

...
cp: '/opt/cross/arm/3.4.6-xscale-softvfp-akita/share/aclocal-1.9/tar.m4' and '/opt/cross/arm/3.4.6-xscale-softvfp-akita/share/aclocal-1.9/tar.m4' are the same file

I have a working R198 building environment (VMWare + pdaX86) that I want to reuse to build newer revisions (like R200). I did a svn update and got the changed files. But when I go back and type "make world", I only got these output:

touch depend.out
Install 'dot' from graphviz packet if you want to have a nice dependency tree.

Do I need to do a 'make clean' to force a rebuild? I don't want to loose too much because redownload the sources are painful.

Can anybody give me a hint?

C1000/3x00 Hardware / C3200 Overclocking Effects?
« on: April 26, 2007, 01:29:57 am »
I once overclocked my C1000 under Cacko 1.23. I had to do it on 624/312/156 MHz to be able to play my favorite NEOGEO games smoothly. In the beginning everything was fine. But then I had occasionally lockups. Something my Z will even lockup just on switching back from 624 to 416. After that I only dare to try 624/208/104, which never had any problems, but it couldn't run my Emu games smoothly. Anyway, I guess the overclock performance will also depend on the quality of your Z, especially when you're overclocking the bus.

As you will have seen in my other thread, I think this means what pppd sends the RTM8000 never receives, so it repeatedly asks for different LCP parameters until both sides give up because they can never agree. We arent actually as far as auth stage yet.

Thanks. I've submitted this as a bug in the pdaXrom bugtracker.

The error was after ATDT*99#, here is the log:

Serial connection established.
using channel 8
using interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS3
rcvd [LCP ConfReq id=0x02 <auth pap> <pcomp> <accomp>]
sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x01 <mru 1450> <asyncmap 0x0> <pcomp> <accomp>]
sent [LCP ConfAck id=0x02 <auth pap> <pcomp> <accomp>]
rcvd [LCP ConfReq id=0x02 <auth pap> <pcomp> <accomp>]
sent [LCP ConfAck id=0x02 <auth pap> <pcomp> <accomp>]
sent [LCP ConfReq id=0x01 <mru 1450> <asyncmap 0x0> <pcomp> <accomp>]

...(the last 3 lines above repeated 10 times. then)

Modem hangup
Connection terminated.

Does this mean authentication is failed? My ISP doesn't require user/password so I just use "1/1".

========Edit=========
I saw XorA and others' posts about this issue on other threads, (I should have searched all forums) I think this should be reported as a bug to the distribution maintainers.

You need to

setserial /dev/ttyS3 uart 16C550A

pccarcctl reset

to get card into right UART mode. Then minicom should talk to it.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=159662\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thanks XorA! Minicom works!

I also got positive feedback from the PPP dialer Windows. However, after the connection is established, I see the following messages:

using channel 1
Using interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS3
rcvd[LCP ConfReq id=0x01 <auth pap> <pcomp> <accomp>]
...

But finally:
Modem hangup

Connection terminated.

I'm still trying other methods...

I tried minicom but still can't get anything back from the modem. I tried both ttyS0 and ttyS3, nothing was sent back for a "AT" command.

In the old thread (where people were talking about RTM8000 on 2.4 kernel roms), they always referred to ttyS3. But from dmesg it seems the card is using ttyS0.

In /sys/devices/platform/akita-ioexp/sharp-scoop.0/pxa2xx-pcmcia/0.0/

there is a file called tty:ttyS3, which is actually a link to ../../../../../../class/tty/ttyS3

I can't find the relationship among these facts, But I suspect that something is wrong.

I saw a lot of discussions of GPRS card issue on this thread:

https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1382&hl=gprs

But I tried the same steps on R198 without success. I'm pretty sure the card is OK.

Are there anyone in this forum who still uses RTM8000 card?

Has anyone tried Audiovox RTM8000 GPRS card on R198? It didn't work on my C1000. The result of running PPP dialer is as follows:

abort on (NO CARRIER)
abort on (NO DIALTONE)
abort on (BUSY)
send (^M)
expect (OK)

then after about a minute:

alarm
Failed
Connection script failed.

The card seemed to be recognized correctly. Here is the dmesg log:

pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 0
pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia0.0
Serial: 8250/16550 driver $Revision: 1.90 $ 4 ports, IRQ sharing disabled
ttyS0: detected caps 00000700 should be 00000100
0.0: ttyS0 at I/O 0xc4820400 (irq = 137) is a 16C950/954

The LED on the card was orange and blinking when inserted, and after several seconds it turned green.
