Astro Slide - Android / google search bar on home screen

Is the Google search bar on the home screen a permanent feature?  I haven't found a way to remove it.

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Re: screen replacement
« on: December 23, 2022, 11:11:38 pm »
It must be worth looking on ebay. With the AstroSlide now arriving, I would have expected there to be a few people looking to offload their old devices.

Only three on offer currently, all fully functional.  Two from Japan, $484 and $759, and one in the US for $600.

I might have been interested in the one with a faulty hinge that sold recently for $300.  I'll keep a eye on eBay; maybe someone will list a broken Cosmo with a functional screen.

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / screen replacement
« on: December 23, 2022, 09:17:19 am »
I dropped my Cosmo on a concrete floor, and the screen shattered.  The device is still functional, but it needs a new screen.  Planet wants $330 USD for a Cosmo screen.  Are there any other options?  Does anyone have a broken Cosmo with an otherwise functional screen they'd be willing to sell?

Astro Slide - Linux / Re: SailOS or Ubuntu Touch or Kali

I know UBPorts works on the Astro, but only if you replace Android.

Is there a "how to" guide for installing UBPorts on the Astro?

OpenBSD / Console Response After Running X
« on: June 13, 2006, 10:11:57 am »
I'm running a 03-Jun-06 snap, but I noticed this behavior on the 3.9 release as well.

When I run startx (or startxfec4) from the console and subsequently quit X and return to the console, response sucks; noticeable lag echoing typed characters, etc.  It's bad enough that I have to reboot to get a normal acting console again.

Anyone else seeing this?  Is there a cure?  (Other than always rebooting after X, that is...)

Is the Settings > Network applet not included?
It's there, but only seems to do ppp connections.  No way to enter a WEP key, etc.

When I open Settings > Network I see a list of devices.  Most of them are disconnected, but there's IRDA for example.  When I insert a D-Link DCF-660W wireless CF card and open Settings > Network there's an 802.11b device.  I can select that device, tap the configure button at the bottom, and enter WEP key, TCP/IP settings for fixed IP or dhcp, etc.

My only complaint is that there is only one network profile.  I move among several network environments, some with fixed IP, some with DHCP, and I would have to re-enter the same network profiles over and over as I move around.

I'm running the April 28 C3000 OZ image.
