C1000/3x00 General discussions / Translating C3100 To English

We have a perfect backup set for the SL-C3100, no need to try
the one from the SL-C3000. Only the official "Service/Download"
page for the 3100 is actually missing, but the files are there.

If the the Servic/Downloadpage is missing for the C3100, how can we get that English-backup.
Is there a link available?

Ok+On -> Flash/Update does only that, flashes a new rom to update the rom.

The debian arm distro won't be recognised as a rom image so nothing will happen if you try it.

The rom image is a jffs2 image of the sharp filesystem, if you packaged the debian arm up as a jffs2 image and got the sizes correct then it would probably flash - like the pdaX rom does, but you would of course lose all the qtopia stuff.

If you want a full linux system with X then have a look at the pdaX rom as they have done most of the hard work for you.

What do you mean by 'getting the sizes correct'?
Can any mortal linux user get this done, or does one have to be a *NIX-Guru?

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Conics Adds 3100 Nand
« on: July 26, 2005, 09:27:38 pm »
For all of you who were as impatient as I to play around with the machine, and therefore forgot to back up.  Conics has provided us with the original-jap NAND for the 3100.

Found here: Conics.net

let's say i copy a debian-arm distro onto the SD-card and then try to boot it with OK/on and Flash/Update.
What would happen, will it fry the machine (3000;3100)?

I assume that the above procedure won't work out, but i like to know WHY it doesn't work. Isn't it possible to somehow bypass the ROM and install to /dev/hda directly??

C1000/3x00 General discussions / How To Restore C3100

Maybe you could try to ask to conics if they can put a NAND backup of the 3100 on their site, they already have the ones for all the other models.

Good idea,
I send them a mail, hopefully they will load an 3100-Nand image up. Also searching this Forum, led me to another link (http://www.xlfag.com/zaurus/) for restoring the 3000 from scratch. Accidentially someone run into similar problems installing OpenBSD37.
I am waiting for an answer from pelon, if that How-To will also work for the 3100.

sounds like you need a nand backup to reflash your device, then a restore is possible.....I think.

I agree, but where would i  be able to get a Nand- backup?

After unsuccessfully trying to install OpenBSD, and then using fdisk to return the microdrive to its original partition-scheme, proceeded  to restore my 3100 to factory settings by using the OK/on procedure.
Well it never gets very far, there are some bsd specific files left, that are looking for A6 partions, i guess.

I don't have a NAND backup, any advice will be appreciated

Thanks

can you access the backup restore utility? If yes then TriSoft has the complete restore for it. I know I asked for it
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=88653\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

i did get that file from the TriSoft site, but when i use the Reset/Flash procedure with OK/on (that is from the BIOS, since i cannot boot into QTopia anymore) it will give me the following output:

"Restore failed , format Error"
