Sharp ROMs / Problem With Smc Ez Connect 2642w

The prism2_cs is the correct module for your card using the old Sharp Linux kernel. You won't have much luck using that kernels hostap module for your card.

Many of those cards were shipped with old v1.3.6 station firmware. They did not work very well with the Sharp rom unless you upgraded the firmware to at least v1.7.4. You can see what firmware your card has by inserting it in your Z and then checking the dmesg output. If it's older then 1.7.4, I would suggest you upgrade your card's firmware. I've upgraded mine from 1.3.6 to 1.8.2 and it works great with the 2.6.17 kernel using the hostap module, but I use OpenZaurus.

I'm running Hentges 3.5.4.1 rom, with lots of cool stuff added after the fact ... but when i hold cancel to suspend my Z, it freezes

That's the old suspend bug. Suspending with the menu works OK using that Kernel and Image.

With the arrival of familiar 0.8, built with bitbake and OpenEmbedded a new era of cooperation has begun. With OpenZaurus, OpenSimpad and Familiar sharing the build system I thought it would be a good idea to a place in this forum where people with Familiar installed on their handhelds can share their experiences, problems and solutions. Since the OZ team has seen the light and removed the word 'ROM' from openzaurus.org, I think oesf should do the same for the OZ sections.
As a second thing: oesf seems to be very (QT)OpieZaurus, there's no gpe/pixil section or even a general X section. Was that intentional?

As you can read from these threads, I have supported koen in all of this. I admire koen for his intellect, and I am very thankful for all the help that he has given me on irc.

That said, you do not need his approval to discuss anything Zaurus related in this thread, or in this forum. Yes, this would include Angstrom.

So I tried an alternate method. By pressing I think it was the G and P and reset button to enter the diag mode. From there I went about installing from the CF. The two leds stayed on for near 2 minutes then it went back to the diag display. That is where I am now. Don't know how to get out this diag mode.

If you could not flash your Z using the standard procedure, you most likely had a corrupt file system on your CF-card or corrupt files to flash with. Now that you have forced a flash with this existing problem you may not be able to boot your system until you flash it again with a good set of files.

You 'may' be able to get out of the diag menu by simply using the cancel/on/off button... if you haven't damaged anything.

Could you give me a clue about which modules from the OZ feed I should install that will enable me to install some of the Sharp ROM apps? I know people refer to them as compat-libs - but which modules are we then talking about?

You need the 'sharp-compat-libs' ipk. It has been removed from the 3.5.4 feeds:

It is still available in the 3.5.3 feeds, or you can build it yourself with OE/Bitbake.

what does unsupported mean? i guess: no support from developer site. but for
instance opera seems to work with oz 3.5.4. are the compat libs dropped as

This file (vlcplay) doesn't seem to be "attached" any longer. I don't see it posted anywhere else

Ahh, they haven't fixed the attachment function after the forum move to ibiblio.

I have it on a disk (somewhere), I'll look for it tomorrow... but I won't be able to attach it here.
