Astro Slide - Hardware / Re: Screen Protector
« on: April 06, 2023, 03:37:14 am »
Why do you search for a screen protector? My Astro has one delivered good fixed on the set from China/PC in August 2022 and that still has no scratch or any mark on its outer edges.
I got some offers for a Astro screen protector via eMail in the meantime after searching via Google for an Astro sreen protector - Google does not forget nearly anything...

On my phone LG G8s there is an App "Carrier Services" that is updated regularely via Google. In one of its comments is written that the carriers often use this app to correct, update and install some parameters and functions.

I installed this App on my Astro. Now the signet of datas with settings "preferred netwok type 4G" is constant and not flipping. But no data transfer to/from the WEB.

After reinstalling the App "GSM Signal Monitor" the App says 2G and great Signal. The same after restart the Astro...

I will wait for some time when the app is updated on the G8s (and Astro?).

And I will try again and again to find a Telekom Guy that can help me - sometimes it seems as difficult to find a non-only-selling-guy as with PC as I think (I wrote this problem to PC in August 2022).

Astro Slide - Android / Re: Keyboard layout doesnt fit
« on: December 28, 2022, 02:58:21 pm »
@LinuxGuy, as a German I use my Astro since August with German Language and also with the German keyboard (two separate settings). The keyboard layout is quite ok as printed on the keys for shift as for Fn.
I woud try to switch to another Language (Einstellungen, Suche again "German") and then to the right keyboard: Einstellungen, nach "Tastatur" suchen).
And when that does not work I would factory reset the Astro. There in August on my Astro was asekd for both and worked since then.
Success with your Astro and please inform us when Linux is usable...

@Oliver Riesen, Gratulation. so I installed "your" App GSM Signal Monitor and switched my Astro with SIM1 in the outer place from 2G to 4G.

- Again as written some days before (and in August to Planet) the alternating Signal from "no signal n/a" (10 to 30 seconds) to "great" (91...98 dB, some seconds) was switching repeatedly.

- With SIM2 in the medial place there was the same alternating but then I recognized that the App also showed SIM1!!!
- I restarted the Astro.
- Now the App showed SIM2. But the same flipping.
- I switsched the settings:
- I tried to switch the Access-Protocol from IPv4/IPv6 to IPv4
- I tried to switch the bearer from no specification to LTE
- I switched from the older APN to internet.v6.telekom

But always the same flipping...
I Googled +APN and +Mediatec (or +Redme) but no better infos.

- Back in Settings 2G instead of 3/4/5G the Signal is constant "great" after some seconds since another bearer is used than with 4G. Not just optimal for a 5G mobile internet access but enough for phone.

Hopeful there will come a solution from Planet in the next time.

Missing Asto Leather Pouch: I use my old Psion possibilities, the practical Leather pouch with place for business cards and the (coming?) stylus. And for optimal shelter: the PalmTec hard case for Psion. The Astro fits optimal.

I am on Telekom too. I use SIM1 slot, I will try SIM2 later, in the moment I do not need mobile data speed, only WIFI and phone. I have set the preferred network type to 2G (!), then the telephone works. With 3/4/5G settings the network switches on and of, on and off... The Planet support is informed in detail since 9. August. I used an other SIM-card from O2 already with the same result. I hope for a real Planet support.

For this task to preserve the battery on all my Androides (incl. Gemini and Cosmo) since years I use the App
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digimastersolutions.battery4080.pro&hl=de&gl=US
You can set the under and upper values and set a signal. Switching on/off is not possible.

Just I installed a (Google-/Android-Logo) App "Device ID Manager" from Area1:
It says: Device ID: 0123456789ABCDEF

And a second one: Device "Id Manager" from Raw Apps:
It says: Device ID: 0123456789ABCDEF

And a third App: "Device ID" from Evoci:
Android Device ID: 7575672C81Exxxxx. Help: A 64bit number (as a hex string) that is randomly generated on the device's first boot and should remain constant for the lifetime of the device, (The value may change if a factory reset is performed on the device)
Google Service Framework (GSF): 35A8E090AC3xxxxx Help: as before!
IMEI: 3517690900xxxxx
SIM Subsciber ID: 2620130102xxxxx
SIM Card Serial: 894902000008875xxxxx
WI-FI MAC Address: 02:00:00:00:00:00   wrong

Devive Build Fingerprints: Planet/Gemini/Planet:7.1.1/NMF260/15173xxxxx:user/dev-keys,release-keys. Help: Brand/Product/Device/Board/Version.Incremental:Type/Tags

I do not think the 0123456789ABCDE is a real existing Android Device Number but a pseudo one
With xxxxx I changed 5 figures in my numbers at their end

Gemini PDA - Android / Micro SD for large Files
« on: March 28, 2018, 12:07:27 pm »
When I got my Gemini I installed the 200 G Micro SD as an "integrated Android Memory" one.
Our Daughter (medical informatics) some days later told me that this way in many Apps is not good, it often works unstable.
So I made a Factory Reset to the Gemini (found in the Android Settings). After setting the first Things again and formatting the Micro SD in the Gemini I stored some smaller files without problems but with the 5 GB File it stopped with a fault remark.
Therefore my remarks.

Gemini PDA - Android / Micro SD for large Files

Formatting Micro SDs in the Gemini itself formats them in FAT32. Then no Files larger than 3,9 GB can be stored.
I quick formatted my (200 GB) Micro SD with Win 7 as exFAT and it works quite well with my Aard2 offline Wikipedia German 5 GB.
