For Sale / Wanted / For Sale Damaged C760
« on: April 27, 2005, 10:39:06 am »
My son (aged 2) got hold of my zaurus and either dropped it or forced the screen the wrong way - sudden lose of video.

I sent the unit of to Sharp hoping to get it repaired. They contacted me today to say that it would cost around 37,000 yen to get it repaired.

This is a bit steep for me as the unit is 2 years old, so I'm planning on getting the unit returned and want to sell it for parts. Sharp told me that the damage is "above the keyboard" and that they would need to replace the hinge. So AFAIK the screen works fine. Before I sent it off to Sharp, I was able to plug the unit into the USB cable and ssh to the Z to backup everything, so the unit itself works - you just cans see anything on the screen.

So if you want an old C760 for parts PM me or email me on ZaurusStuff {at} gmail {dot} com with an offer. If you think that 40,000 yen (plus shipping) is a good price for a refurbished C760 (it has a few scratches and general wear) then let me know and I'll get Sharp to repair it.

Yes you read it correctly. I have 60 gmail invites available.

Not sure what is happening but opened gmail today and my latest batch of 6 invites had turned to 50.
Still have 10 left in 2 other accounts.

So if you have the need of 1Gb of email space (and don't mind google looking over your shoulder to give you guided ads) send me a pm or email at StuBouyer{at}gmail{dot}com

If you are using Cacko rom and considering purchasing TKC apps then this might be of value to you.

If you use Cacko's rom, we cannot support our apps on it and Cacko has been
breaking compatibility - just a caution.

This is an email in response to a suggestion to use Cako rom as TKC rom's developer is missing in action

Site Suggestions, Requests, and Updates / Unable to Upload files
« on: July 27, 2004, 01:38:19 am »
I've been unsuccessfully (sp?) trying to upload an ipk to the forums and the downloads area.

I've tried to upload the ipk (55K) using Mozilla (Linux), FireFox (Linux,NT & XP) and IE (NT & XP) but all give me error messages saying the file is "too large or in the wrong format". I've tried uploading it as an ipk, a gzipped ipk, and a zipped ipk - all to no avail.

Has the upload function broken or do I need to sacrifice a chicken or something first?

General Discussion / How to Ask Questions the Smart Way!
« on: May 07, 2004, 08:02:25 pm »
As per the subject line.

Here is link to a web page explaining the best way to ask for help. There have been a large number of posts recently that fail to properly explain the posters problem, leaving those who wish to help to drag the details out of the poster.

By following the suggestions in the linked site you not only improve your chances of getting a quick answer but also make it easier for people with the same problem to find answers through the search function.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Dual Booting pdaX from SD
« on: April 02, 2004, 11:58:39 pm »
Using the scripts provided by derekp in this thread I\'ve been working on dual booting pdaX from a SD card on the C760.

I\'ve gotten pdax to boot and I can run ts_calibrate, but it and X runs in portrait mode rather than landscape mode. tc_calibrate is fine, but the display for X is munlged and unusable.

I\'m sure I\'ve missed something simple but as yet I\'ve been unable to get X working.

Ideas, suggestions greatfully accepted

What would really make my life easier is an option at the top of the main forum page to view posts from the last 24 hours.

A couple of other forums I use have this option and its really usefull after you have View postes since last visit, closed your browser and realized there was a post you meant to check.

I know it works on phpBB, not sure about PNphpBB.

Comments?

General Discussion / theKompany.com MIA??
« on: February 20, 2004, 09:35:55 am »
Has theKompany.com (tkc) taken down their web site?

I\'m in Japan nad haven\'t been able to connect to their site for 2 days now.

The mailing list was closed down again after too many people started complaining that the tkcMail app still doesn\'t have the long promised IMAP support.

Maybe he spat the dummy big time and took down the site as well??

Can anyone else connect to the site, maybe the link from Japan to tkc has gone bad.

General Discussion / Extracting files from NAND backup
« on: February 06, 2004, 12:41:35 am »
For reasons of stupidity, I overwrote my latest NAND backup with one that wont boot - I deleted the /sbin/ dir by mistake

The thing is the non-booting NAND contains backups of files I\'d really like to get back.

I can mount ROM images and extract files from them, but when I tried this with a NAND it wouldn\'t work, I assume that the NAND file contains several images, but I don\'t know how to extract them from the NAND.

Anyone ??
