Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Newest Version Of Ångström?
« on: April 16, 2009, 04:43:55 pm »
Can anyone direct me to the latest version of Ångström (2008 or 2009)?  I currently have 2007.12, but the packages from the feed browser are old for this release.  I use to download images from http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unsta...utobuild/akita/ but there are no builds there anymore.  How would I use the 2008.x packages?

My searching did find this site for building images (http://amethyst.openembedded.net/~koen/narcissus/), but I am looking for Opie.  I found it works well for a simpler interface and Cacko is a little dated.

Maybe I should learn how to compile an image for my C1000.  Will search for some instructions, but if anyone can direct me quicker it would be appreciated.

Thank you

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Angstrom Upgrade Questions
« on: July 04, 2008, 02:20:14 pm »
I installed the latest Anstrom (zImage-2.6.24-akita-20080607124504.bin & Angstrom-x11-image-glibc-ipk-2007.12-r17-akita.rootfs.tar.gz) images on my C1000 followed by 'ipkg update' and 'ipkg upgrade'.  There were no upgrades and almost no additional packages available.  Through a little digging I found a link to the 2008 package build feed.  I updated the file paths in /etc/ipkg and was able to see the packages without issue.

This is where my problems start.  Running 'ipkg upgrade' works 97% without errors.  There were 2 symbolic link errors with libhal1 and libdsub which I fixed manually.  When I reboot though OE fails to start.

Any suggestions?  Should I wait for a Angstrom-x11-image-glibc-ipk-2008 build?

Sharp ROMs / Neuros Mpeg4 Recorder 2
« on: September 06, 2006, 02:17:21 pm »
Has anyone had any experience with this device?  It is a memory card DVR.

http://www.neurosaudio.com/store/product.a...cat=products%20

It records to MP4 format directly onto memory cards and would make things easier than ripping and converting movies.

They have some demo movies on their site, but I am not able to make any of them play.  I'm pretty sure I'm missing an option in Kino.  Any help here would be appreciated.

Thanks..

Update - I added the mplayer option '-ao sdl' and now the video plays great except there is no audio.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz/opie 3.5.4.1 Sync
« on: July 24, 2006, 11:31:34 am »
Can anyone with sync working tell me what they have?  I've searched the forums and have found a lot of different information how to connect to Windows, but nothing clear.

1.  Does Intellisync work?  (preferred)
2.  Does Qtopia Desktop work?  If so, can it read the Outlook calendar?
3.  Another sync application or tool to get keep calendar up-to-date.

Thank you..

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Bluetooth Help
« on: July 10, 2006, 02:59:28 pm »
Hi All.  I have always stayed away from OZ because setting up network connections is far easier with the Sharp Rom.  The GUI manager just works.

The problem is thats about all.  OZ has many more applications and with the release of 3.5.4.1 I want to try again.

Is there any complete documents on how to set up Bluetooth?  I have a Belkin card which is recgonised and through the Bluetooth manager it finds my phone (moto razr).  I managed to figure out how to get the rfcomm0 file created by reading many other posts, but I can't get anything to dial.

Why does OZ not use the same Network Manager?  Is there a technical reason or is the work required to develop it too intensive?  I am asking out of curiousity and mean no disrespect to the hard work put into OZ.

Hardware Mods / Possible Built-in Wifi Solution
« on: May 02, 2006, 02:57:51 pm »
Has anyone seen this posting on Engadget?  Not sure when this will be out, but it looks like a good solution to the missing built-in WiFi.  Its small and flush so can be left in all the time.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Gps Maps For C1000
« on: October 26, 2005, 03:31:51 pm »
Hi everyone.  I've been searching for two things.  1) A good GPS package.  Currently I have qpegps installed on my C1000.  Haven't tested it yet, but it did work fine on my 5500.  2) A way to get current street level city maps.  I live in Toronto, Canada and can't seem to find any.

I have searched all the posts I can find regarding GPS, but none clearly help with the map issue.

I'd like to be able to use my eTrex with my C1000 as the screen is colour and easier to read while driving.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks..

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Wireless Connection Manager For Oz 3.5.3
« on: August 05, 2005, 03:27:27 pm »
Hi.  I searched every keyword I could think of and didn't find an answer to this, but I do apologize if I missed something.  I'm trying to set up multiple wireless profiles in OZ 3.5.3.  I travel between locations a lot and they all have their own WEP key.  Having to input them all the time is a lot of work.  Is there some sort of wireless connection manager similar to the Sharp ROM where you can have multiple configurations?

Thanks,
Anil..

General Discussion / Quick Battery Drain
« on: November 12, 2004, 01:43:47 pm »
I have a SL5500 running the Cacko ROM.  I've tried a few other ROMs and don't think that is the issue.  My Z drains the battery from full charge to a point where it won't turn on without external power in about 5 hours.  This is when the unit is turned off.  I initally thought it might be the battery and then charging system so I bought a new battery and the external charger.  This didn't make a difference.  Does anyone else have this issue or a fix for it?  I can't figure out what is drianing the power.  I have also removed the CF card and I do not have the home on SD.  So confused.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / oe 3.5 compile time
« on: September 03, 2004, 06:48:39 pm »
How long should it take to compile oemake opie-image on a P3 600MHz machine?  Mine ran for 53+ hours and then failed.  Will it always take that long?  I've installed ccache and psyco.  Not sure if they help.  Specifically is there a way to speed glibc-2.3.2+cvs20040726-r9 up?  I don't need every language.
