Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Help Request: Wireless On Tosa
« on: March 17, 2007, 01:41:12 pm »
Hello.

I'm using OZ 3.5.4.2-rc2 with Opie. I didn't have luck getting a wireless connection using the Opie network interface, so I used the guide for Tosa on the OZ wiki.

In my /etc/network/interfaces I have the line
Code: [Select]
wireless_ng_authtype opensystem
which is what my wireless network requires (works with my laptop)

however, when I open opie-terminal and type in iwconfig,  the output includes the line
Quote
Security mode: restricted

can anyone help me fix this ?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / 3.5.4.2-rc2 Released
« on: September 05, 2006, 10:29:40 pm »
rc2 is out, and the lousy berlioz server is down, so no wiki

I installed the bootstrap image on my tosa, but the console was in all caps, and I couldn't get usbd0 to operate.

So, I installed the gpe-image, had to login, but there is no startx command.

Now off to try opie

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Network Bridge Help And Discussion
« on: September 01, 2006, 06:46:44 pm »
I almost have network bridging working - and I figure others have questions too so I figure I will start a new topic.

I have bridging working to the point where my desktop connects to the web with it, and dmesg shows that usb0 is added to br0, and I can confirm that dhcpd works for br0.

However, I don't seem to have the zaurus connection part right. It says it has usbd0 net up, but I do not have any real connetion to the net. Ping gets no response. I am using OZ-GPE so the net-settings screen is different than the opie one. Perhaps someone could explain what I should write into the /etc/network/interfaces file instead ?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Help! Usbnet Crashes My Laptop! [solved]
« on: September 01, 2006, 03:31:40 pm »
Help! When I plug in my zaurus it crashes my laptop.

I have a SL-6000L with OZ-GPE3.5.4

My laptop has gentoo-sources-2.6.17-r4 kernel.

I last executed a tail -f /var/logs/kernel/current to watch what happened:

the messages say it recognized the device, loaded in the cdce module, all was fine

as soon as it loaded in the zaurus modules the entire desktop froze. no mouse movement, no keyboard, no
CTRL-ALT-BSPACE, no nothing. I had to push the reset button with my stylus to try anything.

I see that Gentoo has a r7 kernel out. Will try that, and will try not adding in zaurus modules. any advice welcome

UPDATE once I installed the gentoo-sources-2.6.17-r7 kernel WITH the zaurus modules, usb0 came up and worked as expected.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Recalibrate
« on: July 06, 2006, 12:10:39 am »
Hello, I'm using OE on my ipaq h5555, and I'm finding that the calibration is very touchy and unescapable. I have had to reflash a few times to work around it, and each reflash takes around 35 minutes ! Is there a way to shorten the number of tabs required to get through the calibration thing ? Sometimes it seems to take hundreds.

Can someone tell me more how this app works - and how maybe to hack around it ? How do you start the app from the terminal ? Does it recieve any options?

Sometimes the screen will not respond to the pointer, like if I start the recalibration app (even accidentally - grrrrrrrr), and then I'm stuck making another 10,000 taps. [I wish I could get paid for each tap.] Is it possible to reset the /etc/pointythingy file ?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz 3.5.3 And Apache
« on: May 13, 2005, 11:17:02 pm »
Has anyone tried out the apache-php package with OZ 3.5.3 ?

This thread https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...10126&hl=apache suggests that it could work with 3.5.2 using compat libs. Has anyone tried this?

Is gcc 3.4 being looked at for compliling OE ? It's supposed to create faster binaries. Is there an Intel compiler for ARM ?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / irk hoses OPIE
« on: October 07, 2004, 12:21:57 am »
I installed irk on OZ-3.5.1 from the command line, then did ipkg-link. I wsan't getting any signs
of it in the keyboard menu, so I restarted OPIE, but all I got was a blank screen. I had to restart to the command line, do a ipkg remove irk, and then opie started fine.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / 3.5.1 vs Hentges
« on: September 22, 2004, 04:09:21 pm »
Does anyone have experience trying out both the new OZ and the latest Hentges OZ ? I checked out GPE and didn't like it - it looked nice but wasn't functional. and the old 3.3.5 was a bit too buggy, and I have to upgrade.

The first thing in favor of the Hentges is that they have a tarball of the entire application feed - very convenient. Against the 3.5.1 is the fact that the latest opie feeds for the SL5500 are in a directory named 5xxx, the xxx part trips the company's porn filter, and I can't access it.

But assuming these issues are resolved, what do various users think of these two options ?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ and pocketop
« on: July 14, 2004, 06:54:06 pm »
I read the recent pocketop forum that someone has gotten irk version 0.10 working on OZ-3.3.5, but I am not having any such luck. Can anyone out there confirm which driver versions work with which OZ versions ? Which ones work for you. I don't want to downgrade, but I want to be able to use my keyboard.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / modules problem on OZ-3.3.6-pre1
« on: June 14, 2004, 11:18:01 am »
I am having problems with my cards, and it seems to be a modules problem.

If I do anything modues related, it says

    If I ls /lib/modules I see I have 2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix.

    How to fix ?
