For Sale / Wanted / C750 for Sale
« on: November 18, 2004, 02:30:05 pm »
C750 Clamshell model for sale. Includes the original box, charger, manuals, one battery etc. No memory cards included. Price is $375 excluding shipping. I will ship to the US and Germany (you can do an ueberweisung to my account there). The shipping will just be more.

Overall in great condition. Barely used. Had a screen protector on since the day I got it.

Some $%^&* broke into my apartment and stole my laptop, SL5600 and some other stuff. Now have to sell the C750 as I don't use it a lot, need to get some money to replace my stuff. Guess it is back to my trusty old Palm Vx for now.

Cannot send a photo, no points for guessing what happened to my digital camera. The best I can do if anyone really wants a pic is to put the Zaurus on my scanner and scan it. Scanner was too big to steal I guess.

Also, if anyone in the group sees someone trying to sell an SL5600 or Minolta Dimage X digital camera online without the chargers, shipping from Columbia, SC in the US, please let me know. They took the stuff but left the chargers.

I had two batteries for the 5600. Still have one with me. Anyone want to pick that up, let me know. Also the docking station for the 5600 is available.

I will also include a PDair case for the 750. One of the nipples on the bottom broke off, so the fit is not 100% anymore, but you can take it. No need for it anymore.

Contact me if you are interested and want to know more.

Cxx0 Hardware / 56k Modem problems
« on: August 24, 2004, 12:10:12 am »
When I insert the 56k modem card and try to dialup on my 750, I get the message "CF card type serial device is busy"

Works perfectly on my 560, so I don't understand.

General Discussion / FAQ ipk
« on: August 09, 2004, 02:12:16 am »
Now that I have installed the FAQ ipk, where is it?
I can uninstall it, so it must be installed....somewhere.

Not in Opera (or is it?), not in the Help browser (just gives me the stuff about Qtopia). Don't see an icon for it.

I did a "find -name 'faq*.*' -print" from root, but cannot find anything.

What am I missing?

5x00 Hardware / Case for 5600
« on: August 07, 2004, 09:25:13 pm »
Found a nice case for the 5600 today at OfficeMax for $14.95.

It looks like neoprene (diving wetsuits)  so it adds a bit of cushioning. Also has places for a calendar and business cards (or CF and SD cards if you like). Uses velcro to fasten the Zaurus if you want.

Fits just perfect. No movement of the Zaurus at all inside.

Have to take the Zaurus out of the case to use, so not perfect, but will definitely protect the 5600 in your bag and such.

I can post some pics if anyone is interested.

Cxx0 Hardware / 5600 and C750 battery
« on: July 24, 2004, 06:40:10 am »
Does anyone know if the battery from the 5600 will work on the C750?

I see the 5600 uses the EA-BL08. The C series uses the EA-BL08K. Different enough not to be used?

Any place to buy just the back cover to use the bigger battery with the C750?

Off Topic forum / Linux is a menace to societey
« on: July 20, 2004, 04:06:04 am »
I just thought I would post part of this article. Might bring a smile to your day ;-)

http://www.adequacy.org/public/stories/200...42056.2147.html

BSD, Lunix, Debian and Mandrake are all versions of an illegal hacker operation system, invented by a Soviet computer hacker named Linyos Torovoltos, before the Russians lost the Cold War. It is based on a program called "xenix", which was written by Microsoft for the US government. These programs are used by hackers to break into other people's computer systems to steal credit card numbers. They may also be used to break into people's stereos to steal their music, using the "mp3" program. Torovoltos is a notorious hacker, responsible for writing many hacker programs, such as "telnet", which is used by hackers to connect to machines on the internet without using a telephone.

Your son may try to install "lunix" on your hard drive. If he is careful, you may not notice its presence, however, lunix is a capricious beast, and if handled incorrectly, your son may damage your computer, and even break it completely by deleting Windows, at which point you will have to have your computer repaired by a professional.

If you see the word "LILO" during your windows startup (just after you turn the machine on), your son has installed lunix. In order to get rid of it, you will have to send your computer back to the manufacturer, and have them fit a new hard drive. Lunix is extremely dangerous software, and cannot be removed without destroying part of your hard disk surface.

User Request for Applications / Zaurus Camcorder
« on: July 10, 2004, 08:07:51 pm »
Can the Zaurus record movies with the camera attachment like some other digital cameras?

Most digital cameras can however only record a few seconds worth. Would there be any hardware obstacles in creating a way for the Zaurus to become a fully fledged camcorder ?

5x00 General discussions / Battery replacement on SL-5500
« on: July 08, 2004, 06:06:36 am »
Just a silly question, but if you have programs on your 5500 ramdisk (internal RAM) and change the battery, won't you lose all the information? (when you take out the old battery and put in a new one, there would be no power to the unit)

Software / .NET on Zaurus
« on: July 07, 2004, 10:45:21 am »
Any comments on .NET for Linux?

http://www.mono-project.com/about/index.html

I have done some C# programming in the past.
Will I be able to run C# programs on a Zaurus now?
