« on: January 22, 2008, 03:09:43 am »
I'm selling my beloved C1000. It's a great little device, but I just have too many gadgets around here that I find myself hardly using anymore. The screen itself is in superb condition and has had little use. The rest of the unit is also in excellent shape.

The following is included: the unit itself, battery, power supply, usb client cable, usb host cable, 2GB Sandisk card, Spectrum24 CF Wireless LAN card, original box with documentation, CD-ROM, leaflets, etc.

Pictures: Everything, Another Everything Picture, Up Close Shot of Opera Running

Price for everything is $225 + shipping.

If you have any questions or anything, feel free to shoot me a Private Message.

Sharp ROMs / Reinstalling Cacko (coming From Pdaxii13)?
« on: January 21, 2008, 11:50:33 pm »
Is there anything I need to change in order to go back to Cacko from Pdaxii13 on a C1000? Specifically, I recall having had to set something to 121mb in the rom updater program when installing Pdaxii13?

EDIT: I'm going to answer myself here and say that I just simply followed the readme.txt in the Cacko package from the web and all went well. Got worried over nothing

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxii13 Upgrade To 5.4.9
« on: September 11, 2007, 02:33:17 am »
I currently have pdaxii13 5.4.5 (base, not full) on my C1000 and was wondering what exactly I would need in order to upgrade to the current release (5.4.9)?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / The State Of Emulators In X?
« on: June 09, 2007, 05:40:16 pm »
I did some digging around to see what the state of emulators are in pdaxrom and didn't find anything really up-to-date info-wise. When I was using cacko, there was the package that Cresho made available and it worked pretty well (I played mostly NES with it though). I'm wondering specifically if there are any decent NES, Genesis, Amiga emulators out there nowadays. Also, has anyone seen or heard of a port of an Odyssey2 emulator to the Z (I'm thinking o2em)?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Relocating Firefox Cache To External Storage
« on: June 08, 2007, 01:54:45 pm »
I'm guessing that firefox currently stores the cache on the flash, if this is the case is it possible to relocate the cache to the SD card instead with the current build (1.5.0.2) of FF for pdaxrom?

EDIT: On a slightly unrelated note, is there a place where I can download the flash plugin that will work with this version of FF?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Problem Installing Pdaxii13 Akita On C1000
« on: June 05, 2007, 06:07:38 pm »
I downloaded the Akita 5.4.5 installs on my SD card, got the pdaXii13 updater menu, went to "Install New Rom" and about halfway through the erasing the RO filesystem stage (or something along those lines) it said oops an error occurred and to press ok to reboot. So now it rebooted and it boots me to a login prompt that says "pdaXii13 build5.4.5 'Sally'". There are also a couple of libncurses errors above the login prompt: "/bin/sh: error while loading shared libraries: libncurses.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory." I have a C1000 if that helps.

Edit: If I try logging in as "root" it says: "login[25]: root login on 'tty1'" and then "-bash: error while loading shared libraries...." and basically repeats the error I noted above and goes back to the login prompt.

Sharp ROMs / Software Suggestions
« on: March 18, 2007, 01:38:09 am »
One application that I'm really looking for is a wireless lan utility. It just needs to be able to show detected wifi signals, show ssid, whether it's encrypted or not. Doesn't need to have fancy logging or sniffing capabilities, just something simple that works. Discoverer 0.05-pre-alpha came with my Akita that I bought, but it doesn't work with my wifi card (Symbol LA-4137), for whatever reason. Wellenreiter II works, but doesn't show me ssid's for some reason, and it only seems to detect my own AP and not others. So I tried looking around for others and saw an Opie Stumbler, but it required so many dependencies that I couldn't find all of them.

Another app I'm looking for is an mp3 player that can is easy to use while in portrait mode (no access to the keyboard) ala an iPod-style UI. Does something like this even exist?

Are there any decent cacko feeds out there that I don't have already that might help me find other apps to try/use? I currently have the cacko.biz feed, bryandeluca feed, and web.mol.ru feed.

Many thanks

Sharp ROMs / Symbol Wireless Woes
« on: March 16, 2007, 02:35:44 pm »
I just got my Symbol CF wifi card (la-4137-1020-gp-ww) in the mail today and have been messing with my C1000 (running Cacko 1.23 full) for over an hour now trying to get it to work. I've searched around the forums here and google and haven't been able to come up with a working solution.

cardctl ident shows this:

Code: [Select]
Socket 0:
product info: "Symbol", "Spectrum24 LA4100 Series WLAN PC Card", "1.00"
   manfid: 0x026c, 0x0001
   function: 6 (network)
Socket 1:
   no product info available

cardctl status yields:

Code: [Select]
Socket 0:
   3.3V 16-bit PC Card [suspended]
Socket 1:
   no card

I've tried doing a 'cardctl resume' but that just makes the light on the CF come on for about a second and then it turns back off.

After inserting the card, dmesg says:

Code: [Select]
orinoco 0.15rc2HEAD (David Gibson , Pavel Roskin , et al)
spectrum_cs 0.15rc2HEAD (Pavel Roskin , David Gibson , et al)
wlan0: Hardware identity 8000:0001:0000:0000
wlan0: Station identity  0021:0002:0002:0001
wlan0: Firmware determined as Symbol F3.91-68
wlan0: Ad-hoc demo mode supported
wlan0: IEEE standard IBSS ad-hoc mode supported
wlan0: WEP supported, 104-bit key
wlan0: MAC address 00:A0:F8:ED:3F:1A
wlan0: Station name "Prism  I"
wlan0: ready
wlan0: index 0x01: Vcc 3.3, irq 135, io 0xf6000000-0xf6000047
pxa_pcmcia_suspend(0)

here's what I have in my spectrum.conf:

Code: [Select]
device "spectrum_cs"
class "spectrum" module "hermes", "orinoco", "spectrum_cs"

card "Spectrum24 LA4100 Series WLAN PC Card"
   manfid 0x026c, 0x0001
   bind "spectrum_cs"

I modified the card string to match what was given in 'cardctl ident', as it was different than what was originally in spectrum.conf. I get the plug icon in the tray, but tapping on it pops up a window saying Connecting, and then the light on the CF card blinks off and on about 1 second apart.

Anyone have any ideas that I can try?

Sharp ROMs / Froze At Loading Screen On C-1000
« on: March 13, 2007, 06:35:21 pm »
I recently purchased a C-1000 (running Cacko 1.23) and it's been working fine. However, today I tried launching a game (zvc or something?) and then all of a sudden a screen saying "Please wait... Loading Linux and Qtopia." It's froze at this screen right now. What can I do to fix it?

Edit: I removed and reinserted the battery and it did soft reset. It did display a bunch of errors about libraries (something about magic size at start?) and a couple of other errors, but it finally booted to qtopia now. Whew

For Sale / Wanted / Zaurus Sl-5600 With Socket Cf Wifi Card
« on: September 21, 2005, 01:03:02 am »
I've reluctantly decided to sell my beloved Zaurus. Just didn't find myself using it as much as I thought I would (especially since I bought my x50v). It was fun while it lasted.

Here's the eBay auction link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=5810931973

I just installed OZ/opie 3.5.3 today (coming from stock sharp rom). The problem I'm having is I cannot get my Socket card to be recognized by OZ. I know the card works, as it worked with the spectrum drivers when I was using the sharp rom.

I've searched the OZ forums and could not find anything that would help me, seems like it's working out of the box for most people. But not for me for some reason

When I do a cardctl ident I get:

Socket 0:
product info: "Socket", "CF+ LP WLAN Card Rev A", "1.00"
  manfid: 0x0104, 0x0001
  function: 6 (network)
Socket 1:
  no product info available

And when I do a cardctl status I get:

Socket 0:
  3.3V 16-bit PC Card
  function 0: [ready]
Socket 1:
  no card

When I do an ifconfig, only the local loopback and the usbd0 are listed.

I have even tried installing the orinoco-modules-cs package and still no go.

Do I need to list some sort of log output or anything that might help someone figure out what's going wrong?

Sharp ROMs / Working Decent Sl-5600 Sharp Rom Feed?
« on: August 13, 2005, 11:47:04 pm »
I looked around on some of the zaurus sites that had feeds, but when I would try to install via the network, it seems like just about every time I'd get the "ipkg encountered an error. Sorry." or something similar. However the qpe-gaim feed worked fine for me over the network.

Anyone know of any Sharp ROM feeds that are known to work (especially with the sl-5600/poodle)?

I'd love to get some neat applications on my zaurus

I recently bought a SL-5600 off ebay after seeing all the applications and whatnot available for the Zaurus, so i'm a Zaurus newbie. I also bought it because I was fed up with HP when they renigged on their promise of an OS upgrade for my old iPaq.

So anyway, I just got my zaurus in the mail the other day and started browsing around for software to install on it. One thing I liked to do on my old iPaq was play NES games and the like. I looked around for nes emulators compatible with the 5600, and found only 1 that worked (znester + zemufe). However, from what I read it doesn't seem like it is possible to map the nes buttons to the d-pad and surrounding non-keyboard buttons on the zaurus. Also I couldn't figure out how to make the screen show up in portrait mode.

This and other things I've found out in the few days I've had my Zaurus, I'm wondering if I should upgrade to a newer (and unfortunately much more expensive) Zaurus. I am specifically looking at the C1000. Although I have a few questions:

1. How good is battery life with the C1000? I did buy the (older) Socket CF wireless lan card to help with battery life.

2. What ROMs are available now that work well and are stable on the C1000?

3. The software I'd like to run on the C1000 would be something like: a ICQ client and NES emulator (among other small utilities and whatnot). Do decent GUI-based ICQ clients and NES emulators exist for the C1000?

That's all I can think of right now. Any help given is greatly appreciated
