Zaurus - pdaXrom / Wireless Problems(sandisk) With Pdaxii13 (akita)
« on: February 21, 2007, 05:11:10 pm »
I'm trying to get my SanDisk Connect Plus (the one where you have to manually upload the firmware) working on my 1000 with pdaXii13 but i am having problems with it.
I think it might be because it uses a newer version of the hostap drivers?

It loads up fine, but when i do dhcpcd wlan0 it blinks and looks like its working but doesnt get an ip address. Then i have to rip it out, put it back in then try again and i'm able to connect for about 20-30 seconds before it dies.
When i use it on pdaxrom beta 1, everything works very nicely..
(I think they use version 16? of the drivers, it usually complains about the drivers being old and may not have new features)
Has anyone else had problems with this?

So my two questions
1. How do i recompile wireless drivers for pdaXii13? Any advice would be much appreciated

2. I think the auto SD/CF card mount may be conflicting with things as well, b/c the card  also has 128MB of disk space but apparently you cant use the disk at the same time as using wifi. Is there a way to turn off the automount for just CF cards??

Thanks

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Compiling Perl Modules For Terminal (xfce)
« on: February 15, 2006, 10:41:53 pm »
Has anyone had any luck compiling perl modules? I'd like to get terminal working on xfce. (would be very happy). I tried several things but unfortunately it was about 2 weeks ago and i forget what i did, but i do remember not being successful at all. I havent seen any posts about how to compile perl modules or anything so if you had any success please let me know. (I think i just need the XML Parser to install terminal?) thnx

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Wireless Woes...=(
« on: January 06, 2006, 11:10:46 pm »
ok..
so i've been trying to get wireless working on pdaxrom for a long time now..and keep having problems..
my setup
3100: cacko 1.23
6000: beta1

on the 3100 w/ the cacko rom i can use wireless on my planex/io-data right out the the box.. (low-power sandisk doesn't work)
i want to be able to do everything from the command line so in cacko i have to type
Code: [Select]
cardctl scheme CardResumefor it to work..
if i type
Code: [Select]
cardctl scheme my-created-wifi-schemeit wont work.. iwconfig will show wlan0 up but with much less detailed info and i can't manipulate anything.. (ie. iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor, etc..)

whats weird is that when i run "cardctl scheme my-wifi" it says it downloads the firmware into the card's RAM just fine but doesn't work.. but when i run "cardctl scheme CardResume" i get massive errors but it works....

So on pdaxrom beta 1 on my 6000 i can get it to bind to hostap but i get "operation prohibited" when i try to change anything.. and no luck with changing cardctl at all =(
Has anyone else gotten wireless to work for them? 6000 bug??

I read in other forums that i have to upload firmware for the PLANEX card but when i run
Code: [Select]
prism2_srec -gs wlan0 /etc/firmware/pm010102.hexi get
Code: [Select]
Verifying update compatibility and combining data:
Failed to parse 'pci' or 'sram_type' from /proc/net/hostap/wlan0/debug
Incompatible update data.
i remember i was able to do this with my sandisk wlan with rc10..
i wonder why this happens now.. it seems other people have this problem too..

so to clarify something..
Do ALL wifi cards need firmware to be uploaded to RAM (always the pm010102.hex & rfxxx.hex??) (I thought the sandisk was different b/c it was the only one that gave problems b/c you had to manually upload firmware)

any help is very appreciated..thanks..

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Problems Initializing Wifi Card
« on: January 03, 2006, 06:02:50 am »
I'm having a weird issue using the IO-DATA wlan card. (hostap drivers)
On the cacko rom, when i insert it i get wifi0 & wlan0 recognized with iwconfig but if i  try to do iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor or anything to change it i get:
Code: [Select]
error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
   SET failed on device wlan0: Operation not supported.
(btw, i'm root)
and if i do ifconfig wlan0 up it doesn't complain but when i run ifconfig again wlan0 doesn't show up...

however, if i use the wireless applet in cacko i can connect to my AP and after its initialized i can then do stuff from the command line (put it in mon mode, etc...)

on pdaxrom,
i added the entry into hostap_cs.conf and wlan0 comes up with iwconfig now (however, no wifi0) and i have the same problem with not being able to do anything from the command line =( hence i can't use it..

any help would be appreciated..

Sharp ROMs / Cacko 1.23 + Qpegps/mobilemap = Screen Problem
« on: December 31, 2005, 12:19:50 pm »
i have cacko 1.23 installed on my 3100 and would really like to get gps working with either qpegps or mobile map but both programs when i run them run in portrait mode for some reason and all the windows/fonts get really big making it unusable. When i close the program the screen turns back to normal. Also, the japanese fonts don't display right for mobilemap even though they do fine for everything else. Any else have the same problem?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Tosa (sl-6000) Kernel Compile Problems
« on: November 19, 2005, 02:28:17 pm »
i would like to compile the kernel for tosa with the latest pdaXrom builder but i am having problems.. It is the same problem i had with the pdaXrom builder for rc10 (rc11 compiled smoothly)..

i copy the xtools config for tosa gcc 3.4 to .config, run make world, make archive-toolchain, then make clean. then i do the same for the corgi-hardfloat.
but when i run make world for the tosa config_rom it goes for a while but then i get

make: *** [/usr/pdaXrom/pdaXrom-builder/state/automake176.install] error 1

i think the problems is it's putting a double quotes in the middle of "/opt/cross/arm/3.4.4-xscale-softvfp-tosa"/share/aclocal-1.9/* (five lines up)
i think the double qoutes is messing up the cp as well which is why it bails when i cant find the file pkg.m4

has anyone seen this happen? or more importantly know how to fix it?
please let me know

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Zaurus Crashes After Long Suspend/time Loss [fix]
« on: August 29, 2005, 06:46:03 pm »
ok.. if your Zaurus starts to crash after a long period of being suspended dont worry about hacking up any crazy scripts, etc..
just click on the power settings and set suspend after "0" min's to both. You might also want to click on the screen applet and disable suspend for good measures.

I refered to jcabrer's post  (a little hard to follow) ->
"For your consideration:

Let us assume that you have set your screen to blank at 10 minutes and suspend at 30.
Let's also assume that there is some not so perfect behavior in the clock time keeping.

OK, so now you manually suspend because your Girl/Boy friend just showed up. After 15 minutes you excuse your self to the rest room, and secretly try to power up your Z. The screen comes on momentarily, even the light may come on, but it powers back off.

In frustration you go back outside for a while, and try again later. say an hour or so. Still no luck? RESET. Then it works.

What's happening is that the suspen timers are not being reset when you power off. They only reset when a screen tap or some keys are registered. The result is that if your system wakes up and sees that its suspend timer has expired, it goes back into suspend thinking its been active the whole time.

The real solution to this problem is any fix that actually resets the suspend/screen blank timers when the system wakes up, or right before it suspends.
"

If you are losing time... (as i was)
just add two lines to /usr/bin/apm

#!/bin/sh
#
# X11 ROM apm wrapper
# http://www.pdaXrom.org
#

pre_suspend() {
   # test -e /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia && /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia stop >/dev/null 2>/dev/null
   cardctl eject
   rmmod -a
   rmmod -a
   echo -n Suspending ...
}

post_suspend() {
   # test -e /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia && /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia start >/dev/null 2>/dev/null
   # sleep 1
   cardctl insert > /dev/null 2>&1
   echo ... Resumed
}

APM=/usr/bin/apm.x

if [ "$1" = "--suspend" -o "$1" = "-s" -o "$1" = "--su" ]; then
   pre_suspend
   /usr/bin/sethwclock
   /sbin/sltime -set

   $APM --suspend
   post_suspend
else
   $APM $@
fi

/usr/bin/sethwclock
/sbin/sltime -set
are the two lines you need to add... much thanks to the guy who figured this out!!  (not me)
