Hey all.  Selling off my trusty Z due to money issues.  Please ask me any questions through the auction, although I'll check the boards occasionally.

It's item # 5771595129   at www.ebay.com.  Please check there for all details (shipping info, and so on).

Here's a direct link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMESE%3AIT&rd=1

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / irda dial-up (any oz release)
« on: December 01, 2004, 04:25:38 pm »
BUMP

Enabling the extra Irda stuff is just a matter of setting some kernel config options, then recompiling the kernel.  However, I have no clue where to get a hold of the kernel source for OZ 3.5.x, and how to load it onto the Z.  I've looked at docs everywhere, messed around with the OZ build system, and nothing on where the kernel source is or how to install a custom-compiled kernel on the Z.  Just the old Sharp docs which are pretty useless unless you want a custom old sharp kernel.

Someone please point out  the location of the OZ 3.5.x kernel source and possibly docs on how to install custom kernels on the Z? Thanks! Maybe then I can finally get vpn working on the Z too.

Deals and Great Z Buys / Brand new camera card for $14.95
« on: August 03, 2004, 02:25:38 pm »
Not sure if anyone else has had problems, so just a quick warning.  I ordered the z camera from comp-u-plus, got the box last week.  I went to open it and the camera was missing!  Had the instruction booklet, and the box (which was pretty beat up), but the camera itself was gone.  I've been trying unsuccessfully for 2 days now to contact their customer support (busy signal on the phone line, no response from their e-mail).  Hopefully it's just a simple mistake on their part and this will get resolved.  I'll let you all know what happens..   .

What is a .diff file?  (kdevelop.diff on the ftp site)

See:
[code]man patch[code]

(hmm doesn\'t seem like the [code] tags are working, or I\'m just doing something dumb;))

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / 3.3.6pre1 and wireless not working
« on: January 26, 2004, 04:47:23 pm »
Been fooling around with thiss and I\'ve discovered something.  Wireless does not work for me only with the 64/0 kernel image.  All the other kernel images work fine.  The orinoco modules crash on the 64/0 image.. seems like something is borked with it.

edit: This is on collie.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / 3.3.6pre1 and wireless not working
« on: January 25, 2004, 09:54:13 pm »
Anyone else having problems with their wireless card?  Whenever I slap it in, the appropriate modules get loaded, but it doesn\'t go farther than that.  Doesn\'t get reported in OPIE and the CF slot becomes unusable until I reboot.  Syslog gives some weird errors right after it reports orinoco_cs has loaded, an \"Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000030\" then it spouts out various values of flags and registers.  I tried doing a modprobe orinoco_cs and it segfaults.  Anyone have any idea?

Thanks

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Difficulty getting online with OZ 3.3.5
« on: January 25, 2004, 02:26:54 am »
It sounds like a routing issue.  Requests within your subnet work fine, but requests outside of it aren\'t being sent to the gateway (your router).  Try using route to manually set the ip for your default gateway.

http://docs.zaurus.com/ is a good place to start.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Totally new to OZ, what do I need to do...
« on: January 24, 2004, 11:41:01 pm »
For starters, try scanning the how-tos on this site. I\'d recommend going with 3.3.6pre1 (http://www.openzaurus.org/official/experimental/collie) as well, over 3.3.5.  It seems to run everything 3.3.5 can when you use the compatability libs (check the readme in above link) and it has less bugs and runs faster.

For war-walking grab wellenwreiter(sp?) in the feed of above link,  and maybe kismet too.  Check out the websites for those progs to see how they work.

For the best program opening time just install programs in RAM.  If you put stuff on your SD card (if you want to do 64-0), you could also just have things fast load by holding onto the icon in opie and selecting that option (this keeps part of the binary in memory for fast loading i think).

Connecting to the net via wireless is pretty straightforward, it\'s almost all near automatic.  You can specify WEP in network settings if ya need it as well.  Plenty of how-tos on this as well.

Don\'t know anything about neocalc (have a link?) so can\'t help ya there.

I\'m not familiar with syncing in windows either.  I think qtopia desktop works with OPIE for syncing.  You can grab that from trolltech\'s site (www.trolltech.com?).

Have fun and good luck.

James

edit: actually, you are probably better off sticking with 3.3.5. as I can\'t seem to get 3.3.6pre1 to sync at all with anything.

reedit: i take that back - http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?n...viewtopic&t=952 to see a workaround for syncing in 3.3.6pre1.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / oz 3.3.6pre1 + iqnotes
« on: January 24, 2004, 08:06:02 pm »
Anyone get the iqnotes in the 3.3.6pre1 feed to work?  It starts up for me, but doesn\'t seem to find any of my data files.  Even if you create a new data file, add some info, and save, it can\'t find it when you hit open, or restart iqnotes.

James

edit:
I just noticed iqnotes is now commercial.  Could this be the reason?  It seems like the OZ version restricts itself to just being able to use a single data file, iqnotes.xml.  Dang, and I just deleted my old iqnotes.ipk!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ 3.3.5 + ambicom wl110c-cf ?
« on: December 11, 2003, 08:00:56 pm »
Not sure what is going on, but it shouldn\'t be usbd0 - that\'s for the serial port on your Z, and 192.168.129.201 is the default IP for the serial port/docking station.  It should get assigned to either eth0 or wlan0.  Maybe your card isn\'t getting recognized properly?  Try typing in \'cardctl info\' in the console to see if it reports your card properly (for me, it says something like PRODID_1 = \"Wireless LAN\", etc.).  You might have to do something like in http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...lessCardSupport , adding an entry to /etc/pcmcia/hostap_cs.conf?  Might also be an 860 specific bug.  Sorry I can\'t help more.  :? Angstrom & OpenZaurus / oz 3.3.5 + iptables - where are the kernel modules?
« on: December 11, 2003, 07:33:51 pm »
To answer my own question: http://insel.heim.at/malediven/351901/zaurus/.  Maybe these should be in the OZ feed?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / One idea: Opie-mediaplayer2 How-To
« on: December 11, 2003, 07:17:31 pm »
Just to agree with what everyone says here, don\'t even bother with opieplayer2.  XMMS + mplayer plugin works great in OZ 3.3.5.  You can grab it from http://xmms-embedded.sourceforge.net.  Feed @ http://xmms-embedded.sourceforge.net/feed/oz32/.

Sounds like the card is working and everything.. ya just need to configure for your network setup.  All that can be done in Settings tab-]Network-]802.11b-]Configure.  Good luck!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / oz 3.3.5 + iptables - where are the kernel modules?
« on: December 11, 2003, 07:04:45 pm »
Noticed iptables in the 3.3.5 OZ feed at http://www.openzaurus.org/official/3.3.5/collie/ipks.  Doesn\'t seem to come with the necessary kernel modules though, and none of the other packages seem to have them.  Anyone know where I could get them from?

Thanks-

James
