Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom For C3000 (based On Beta1/beta3)
« on: May 30, 2007, 05:06:37 am »
Hi,

Anyone else has a problem with the m5sum's?

Code: [Select]
# md5sum -c checksum.txt
updater.sh: FAILED
updater-tools.bin: FAILED
initrd.bin: OK
zImage-2.4.20.bin: OK
hdimage-full.tgz: OK
md5sum: WARNING: 2 of 5 computed checksums did NOT match

I tried to download update.sh and updater-tools.bin various times with different tools (wget, links, lftp etc.) but md5sum still fails.

Same there?

I want to add one or two small games, note the small part. i just want to add something fun but not something huge. you can install all the games you want since you will have a few gigs free space to install them on  and no ipkg-link required!

Hi,

First of all thank you for the great work.

I'd like to recommend you to include sdlvexed since it is only 532k and includes 19 levelpacks with music and nice graphics.

Available from http://www.pdaxrom.org/contrib/humit/sdlve....6_armv5tel.ipk

thanks.

edit:
sdlvexed shortcut keys:
f: full screen
l: choose levelpack (works in fullscreen mode)
m: mute sound
s: solve

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Openzaurus 3.5.4.1 Released
« on: July 09, 2006, 09:27:48 am »
Hi,

Finally i feel that i can use my spitz with full potential

I am really happy to be able to install OZ GPE on my single 4 Gb partiton.

and

My all usb devices work, keyboard, mouse, usb ethernet, usb storage. I just untar modules-2.6.16-spitz.tgz and no further configuration needed. This is why i feel like using a decent distro .

Thank you.

p.s: It would be really good to be able use the wheel on usb mouse, but as far as I know, it is not possible with Xfbdev.

In GPE, Ctrl+Alt+Backspace sequence bypasses that dialog. (by restarting the X obviously)
It won't work in opie i guess, but if you have ability to change the VT and get a console, you can issue a ps aux command and kill that process maybe. Good luck.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Hentges Rom For Spitz
« on: June 23, 2006, 08:01:54 am »
Hey people,

I've installed this rom to my spitz.

Installation went pretty good, it even reset the device after installation and reboot automagicly. Ilove that cool OpenZaurus logo in altboot menu
bootsplash is very nice too... (will need to search for the format and location of that file for a custom startup
During the very first startup of opie, before the calibration screen i got a screen with no decorations, asking about inserted sd card. Since the window is bigger than the screen i couldn't see any OK/Cancel buttons, tried some key combinations and finally closed the dialog and calibration screen appeared.
Opie run smoothly, on/off button works like a charm.
I want to make an 'ipkg update', so tried to configure network over usb. However, neighter my desktop linux detected zaurus nor the usbd0/usb0/eth0 interfaces come up.
Just tried a couple of ifconfig / modprobe to test the interfaces but didn't examine it further. Since I was waiting for a chance to test my ney usb host cable and powered usb hub, i connected the a4 Tech KL-5UP keyboard and AK-5 easy-go mouse over usb hub. Keyboard is detected and works well  with zaurus keyboard. According to the dmesg output, usb mouse is recognized too, but i guess there is need to install some other software to use mouse with opie.

It really looks good, and runs pretty stable.
Thanks

There are some recipes:

https://www.oesf.org/forums/lofiversion/ind...php?t13974.html

Actually, there was a good HOWTO written by Pelon http://www.xlfag.com/zaurus/ ), but now this link is broken...
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

i've found a web archive of the page for Feb 05, 2005

I'm not one, but I know there are fans of Football Manager games.

Web page says:
Quote
A remake of the (in)famous Sinclair Spectrum Football Manager game, complete with stick-man graphics. This is reverse engineered, so it should play identically.

Deathchase 3D is a remake of the Sinclair Spectrum game of the same name.
It's a pseudo 3D game based on the light speeder sequence from "Return of the Jedi" where you have to shoot the bad guys' speeders.

Changed the original keys, now it uses LEFT, RIGHT, UP, DOWN, SPACE and ESC.

Apricots ported.

(screenshot from website)

It takes unnecessarily long to load the game, like 20s, but it runs at a playable speed.

btw, any good resources to optimize packages while porting?
enjoy

Hi,

ported Blobwars  for pdaxrom.

[img]http://www.parallelrealities.co.uk/images/blobwars/03.jpg\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" /]
(screenshot from their website)

game has some issues but it runs.

First of all, when you start, it complains about running as root user. I tried to create a user and to run the game as that user but i had some erros, no time to debug it.

Game speed is slow on my C3000 but overclocking to 624 Mhz makes it playable.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Emelfm2 0.1.6 And Crosscompiling Questions
« on: March 16, 2006, 09:10:38 am »
if you specify --prefix=/usr  for ./configure script, and then issue the command:
Code: [Select]
make DESTDIR=/opt/cross/arm/3.4.5-xscale-softvfp/armv5tel-cacko-linux install
it should copy the files relative to /opt/cross/arm/3.4.5-xscale-softvfp/armv5tel-cacko-linux/usr instead of /opt/cross/arm/3.4.5-xscale-softvfp/armv5tel-cacko-linux/usr/local.

good luck.

Thank you for the suggestions! In my case something still goes wrong but I suspect that is a different problem.
make DESTDIR=/opt/cross/arm/3.4.5-xscale-softvfp/armv5tel-cacko-linux install
(if I put a slash behind the path I saw some generated paths with two slashes so I removed it) then it installs stuff in /opt/cross/arm/3.4.5-xscale-softvfp/armv5tel-cacko-linux/usr/local/lib/
so it adds usr/local/lib to the paths, wonder if that is correct. I think I'll try what a manual copy will do after I fixed the following thing:

The error message in the configure script I am getting is this one
checking for alutInit in -lopenal... no
checking for alutInit in -lalut... no
configure: error: *** You need OpenAL (www.openal.org) to compile GemRB
The one I compiled is openal, not alut so perhaps that is the problem, there was not much documentation on the site but these names look similar to OpenGL and Glut, so alut are probably functions that add to base functions of openAL and you need both compiled and installed. Compiling alut gives me some trouble though and I have to look into that.

Hi, after I compiling new libraries you can manually place the files under
Code: [Select]
/opt/cross/arm/3.4.5-xscale-softvfp/armv5tel-cacko-linux/
 or  giving the command:
Code: [Select]
make DESTDIR=/opt/cross/arm/3.4.5-xscale-softvfp/armv5tel-cacko-linux/ install
will do the trick

Next step is to try some packages dependant on other libraries.
How do I compile multiple libraries and dependency chains? Should I install compiled libs and headers into /opt/cross/arm or somewhere and maintain a little tree there? Or do I need to use pdaxrom build system for that? Inquiring minds need to know!
I would like to know the same, I succesfully compiled a library (OpenAL) than an app (GemRB) needs I am trying to cross compile, but if I make install for the library I have no clue where it puts it and the configure of the app (GemRB) can not find that the library is installed.
I have some .so, .so.0, .so.0.0.0, .lai, .la and .a files (the .0 and .0.0.0 are symlinks of course) after I did a make, I saw /opt/cross/arm/3.4.5-xscale-softvfp/lib exists and a /opt/cross/arm/3.4.5-xscale-softvfp/armv5tel-cacko-linux/lib/
also where do I need to put the includes? just in
/opt/cross/arm/3.4.5-xscale-softvfp/armv5tel-cacko-linux/include/ and it should
work? The app depends on SDL, OpenAL, Python and zlib, of which I think zlib and SDL are in the SDK, not sure about python so I need to check but it does exist for the PdaXrom so if not in the SDK then I suppose there is a way to convert the ipk back to a set of libraries and includes and copy those in the proper places so that the configure of the app finds them.
