Since root has a size limit, the rest is setup as /home.  I created a /home/local and linked it to /usr/local.  This allows me to install applications in /usr/local without needing to be on a FAT formatted card and also use the internal RAM to its fullest.

Honestly, I do not see much in this product that isn\'t already in the Sigmarion III (http://www.dynamism.com/sig3/specs.shtml), except for a little more ram and a slightly bigger screen.

What we could be looking at is full hardware accelleration as well as being able to take advantage of the resolution switching.  So for a media perspective, the device could do full screen video at 320x240 (which is much faster) as well as allowing for the hardware video accell.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Where would you like to see pdaXrom go?
« on: March 25, 2004, 09:41:48 pm »
I am not a pdaXrom specific developer, but it is the platform I develop for.  I find it to be one of the easiest ROMs to cater to.  So, as I know Sash (the originator of the ROM) is watching and is always listening to the users, I thought I would toss out a simple question;  Where would you like to see pdaXrom go?  Would it be a different Window Manager?  Would it be better integration to Windows?  Do you have a more profession use for it for you business?  Need a better game machine?  What specific applications fit your needs?

The idea is simple.  People like sash are creating a ROM for the user.  We, the developing group, and those that work the actual ROM, need to hear what your use is and what your need is.

General Discussion / Debian vs pdaXrom
« on: March 25, 2004, 03:43:47 pm »
I wouldn\'t put too much weight into that thread since it is from December.  I know pdaXrom has had a new version since which addressed much of its performance issues as well as many others.  I would suspect that the other distributions have also.

advmamerc ... where is yours again?

Scott

I had the same problem with that version.  I think it is due to the changes that were made.

I compiled the vanilla version 79.1 and ran it on my system without any issues.  I then took the sources on my drive and copied to a 79.1.scott version for you to try to make your changes with again.  Get them in and I will recompile and test.
