Gemini PDA - Android / Magisk modules installation?

Hmm the Android installer wasn't able to read F-droid's main APK file, that seems odd.

strange,... maybe try to redownload it (or an older version)?
but you dont need the packagemanager itself. the apps can also be downloaded directly from fdroid.org

... for an ad block hosts file but it fails with a pretty unhelpful error. Weird that this doesn't just work since Planet recommends installing Magisk Manager to finish rooting the device...

i havent tryed the addon but you could try AdAway for this job: https://f-droid.org/packages/org.adaway/

Anyone considered an irc channel on freenode would be great sometimes to get live support, i know it is early but someone might set it up, or maybe there is already a gemini channel ...

Hey, i would connect the matrix channel with your irc channel... ok?

Gemini PDA - Linux / Gaming on Linux ARM

Someone on the Indiegogo's page has asked what games will be possible to run on the Gemini, under Linux. I have found a list of games which run on the Pandora; since they share the same OS and CPU family, most of them should be able to run on the Gemini as well:

http://repo.openpandora.org/?page=all&...ame&ipp=all

Does anybody know if there are any commercial Linux games compiled for ARM CPUs?

Varti

In general all linux-arm packages for debian should work (https://packages.debian.org/stable/games/). The OpenPandora Packages are just containers with compiled stuff for angstrom (!), the default os on the pandora. So on the pandora you haven't as many games you could have with debian - but they are much easier to administrate since they are in containers (PND, modern formats of these would be snap or flatpak)...

I don't know of special commercial games that support linux/debian on arm. but there are some nice companies that opensourced their engines and/or there are reimplementations of some engines are available... Jedi Knight 2/3 is no problem, Jazz Jackrabbit (OpenJazz), The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind (OpenMW),...

Besides that you could also emulate an x86 CPU to run Linux Games from for example GOG with Eltechs ExaGear Desktop for ARMv8 devices (select "other" => ARMv8 for the Linux on Gemini; https://eltechs.com/product/exagear-desktop...ear-sale-2017/.

I don't know if the Gemini is a really good Zaurus successor.
Yes, it runs pure linux if you wish. But it's focused on Android.

It's more a business devices than a "mobile hacking tool". Don't get me wrong, it's (probably) a fine device and the best way to replace a Psion 5 (!). But i think if you want a "new zaurus" you should look at the OpenPandora or Dragonbox Pyra.

Gemini PDA - Android / Helio X27 Root and removing GAPPS ?
« on: December 28, 2017, 03:46:50 am »
Planet Computers doesn't answer to questions about rooting the Gemini. We could expect that there won't be an official way for rooting.
So, whats the best way to root a device with Helio X27 and is there an good howto how to remove (or deactivate) all GAPPS/Services?

Thanks! hmmm that's strange. i use this link format for other channels to without a problem. Maybe it's a browser problem? The Channelname on matrix uses this structure: #channel:server so its: #planetgemini:matrix.org
I'm using the latest Firefox Quantum 57.0.1 on my laptop running Linux Mint. I have done a bit of research, and according to this post:

https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/sl...org-4175604896/

the problem might be the "Anyone who knows the room's link, including guests" setting...

*headdesk xD sorry... fixed.
