Site Suggestions, Requests, and Updates / Problem uploading file
« on: May 05, 2004, 02:22:01 pm »
Not sure if I\'m doing something wrong, but I haven\'t been able to upload a 19meg tarball (for dual booting pdaXrom) to the download section. I\'ve tried both firefox & ie. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jerry

Sharp ROMs / Kino2 0.3
« on: April 01, 2004, 03:59:12 pm »
maslovsky:
Is it possible to install the new Kino2 on the Cacko 1.2 ROM? Or do I have to wait for the new Cacko ROM that has it included?

I mounted / rw so the link error didn\'t occur during installation. But everytime I load a movie and click play, the screen goes white for a second and returns to the GUI. From the command line there are no descernable error messages.

Thanks,
Jerry

General Discussion / cacko.biz has become pdaxrom.org
« on: February 18, 2004, 02:31:55 pm »
Just noticed this. Looks like there are changes afoot. Also noticed the ZUG mirror of the old cacko site is down too. Anybody knows what\'s going on?

Cheers,
Jerry

Software / Embeddedkonsole with large fonts
« on: January 29, 2004, 04:21:11 pm »
I stumbled across this while looking for an embeddedkonsole to work on my Cacko Qtopia ROM. While it was written to work with Chinese characters, I love it because you can set it to use large fonts    . My pet peeve has always been the hard to read fonts in konsole. I uploaded the file to ZUG but if you can\'t wait for offroadgeek\'s approval, you can find it on the author\'s page http://www.kol.com.tw/racklin/zaurus/embed...konsole-tw.html

Cheers,

Jerry

Zaurus - pdaXrom / What has the Cacko Team been up to?
« on: January 25, 2004, 01:57:58 pm »
After a flurry of releases and enhancements from the Cacko Team, seems like things have quieted down. Anyone from the Cacko team willing/able to update us on what you\'ve been up to and what the next release might bring?

I for one have been very impressed and pleased with the work they\'ve done so far and am anxiously awaiting the promise of a PIM app that will sync (with windows or Linux) which will make the move to the X11 ROM a permanent one for me.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ NewB Question
« on: January 15, 2004, 12:18:49 am »
Been trying out OZ on my C750, but can\'t get the backlight to get any brighter than 50% using the power & light app. I use my Z in bright areas & the OZ ROM is hard to see @ 50%. Is there a manual work around or am I missing something obvious?

Thanks,
Jerry

Zaurus - pdaXrom / SR-Wellenreiter II
« on: December 27, 2003, 10:26:02 pm »
Subject says it all. As a Linux newbie, recompiling is beyond me at the moment otherwise I\'d give it a whirl. I\'ve tried kismet but it doesn\'t like my Socket card.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Fluxbox on X11 Feed
« on: December 23, 2003, 08:36:15 am »
Anyone else notice that Fluxbox doesn\'t install from the feed properly?

I was reinstalling apps after flashing to the new ROM and have been in the habit of installing from a copy of the feed on my CF (I\'m lazy and like to have the dependencies installed automatically). Fluxbox kept throwing an error (ERROR: Failed to retrieve...) So I changed ipkg.config to point back to cacko.biz and got the same error.

Fluxbox will install fine manually.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / How Much Memory left?
« on: December 19, 2003, 03:11:32 pm »
As I load more and more stuff on my C750, I\'m starting to get concerned about space. Is there an easy way to check to see how much space is left in RAM? I imagine there will be a sysinfo type app in the final release, but meanwhile is there a linux command that will display that info? \"top\" lumps all memory together so it\'s hard to tell how much is allocatable for user apps  (I\'m a linux newbie if you can\'t tell   )

TIA,

Jerry

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Fluxbox on cacko.biz feed
« on: December 10, 2003, 05:37:12 pm »
Looks like omin0us & Sash have been busy. I downloaded fluxbox and it works great so far.

There are also some new games, including gnuboy (haven\'t gotten that to work yet).

This X11 ROM is already rockin! Can\'t wait to have a good PIM app.

Offroadgeek may need to setup a mirror of the feed to keep up

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Cacko Updater
« on: December 09, 2003, 10:55:22 pm »
I tried using the Updater to backup my User partition and was expecting a prompt for selecting where to save it. But it only asked for a name. Which after I entered one and ran the backup. But now I can\'t find where it placed the backup (or determine if it worked).

Anyone have success if using the Updater Backup?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / New Cacko X11 ROM Beta with installer!
« on: December 03, 2003, 08:48:14 pm »
Check it out www.cacko.biz/~sash/feed/ROM

Unpack the 3 files on the CF card (won\'t work from the SD) initrd.bin, updater. and tools.tar (don\'t untar the tools.tar as updater will take care of it)

The updater Sash has written has a GUI with backup options. It\'ll detect which 7X0 you have and flash the correct kernel. Very slick! Sash has set the bar very high!

It gives the option to erase the data so you don\'t have to go to the 3rd menu option after flashing the ROM.

He included a readme.txt which explains how to use the right mouse options anc ctrl & alt.

Wireless is working, I\'m sending this from my 750 with the X11 (to get WEP working I had to enter the key vs the passphrase).

now time to install some apps from his feed, hope to find a decent PIM app!

Cheers
