[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Meanie, this package not working for me at pdaXrom r121

I just have compiled gaim_2.0.0-b3.1 ... and tested and works with icq, yahoo, jabber, google and msn... for msn works needs gnutls instaled at pdaXrom... but not writing configurations to disk... Igot this msgs:
Code: [Select]
util: Writing file blist.xml to directory /home/root/.gaim
util: Error writing data to file /home/root/.gaim/blist.xml.save: Incomplete file written; is your disk full?
util: Writing file prefs.xml to directory /home/root/.gaim
util: Error writing data to file /home/root/.gaim/prefs.xml.save: Incomplete file written; is your disk full?

I go review my ./cofigure ... tomorrow... yeap I just compiled a iwmmxt package.. and this works very nice... here the ipk for try... remember .. this not saving configs... and only for Cxx00
[a href=\"http://zaurus.vivaphp.net/pdaxrom/misc/gaim-cxx00_2.0.0-beta3.1_armv5tel.ipk]http://zaurus.vivaphp.net/pdaxrom/misc/gai....1_armv5tel.ipk[/url]

------------ EDIT-------------
For some bug, I think in ASM instrutions at util.c .... write and read config files not working...  just now I have compiled without cxx00 flags... and gaim still full working.... nice!

In one hour I go put the generic ARM5t .ipk file at my FEED...

For now I go try found the reason for this bug with iWMMX....

To compile OOo for the Z would this be done on the Z from the source code? I'm assuming that would take a long time and not necessarily succeed, even if someone had the skill I lack.
On my 2GHz, 512MB desktop machine it takes nearly 2 days to compile OOo. On the Z because of its limited memory it will be using swap like mad and probably take a month or 3 to compile. And you need about 2 or 3GB of free disk space.

Also the OOo that we have now is the result of Debian's support for the ARM architecture. But some time ago Debian has dropped offical support for ARM, so the chances of OOo 2 for ARM are pretty slim -- unless Meanie performs another miracle

-- cheers

Showing my ignorance again, do we really need the Debian support for the ARM architecture?

Surely if apps like AbiWord, etc can be compiled to work on the ARM as well as a x86, it's just the case of someone with a powerful computer going through the same process with OpenOffice?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=127865\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I think we need a ARM cluster to compile Ooo 2 and other thinks like blackdown-1.4 ....
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=143278\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
What about crosscompiler? or some kind of emulation? surely this can be done some other way....

If not--maybe someone can whip up a clustering module and we can all put our zs online for a few days and do it distributed...?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=143294\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

We need a native compile because this uses java compiler (javac) all time to build OOo libs and binaries.

Anunakin - I have now spent a couple of hours myself playing the beta release and can confirm that it is running fine without any crashes using a 96MB swap file on my SD Card.

The graphics really are pretty amazing and once the game is loaded it is no slower than the 1.14 version.

All I can say is "great work" and thanks for the help getting it going!
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I just compiled a Cxx00 version, this is more fast then generic, try it!
[a href=\"http://zaurus.vivaphp.net/pdaxrom/misc/freeciv-cxx00_2.1.0-beta2_armv5tel.ipk]freeciv-cxx00_2.1.0-beta2_armv5tel.ipk[/url]

Flags used:
CFLAGS="-mtune=iwmmxt -march=iwmmxt -mcpu=iwmmxt -fsigned-char -O3 -pipe"

Okay - looks like it is time to increase the size of my swap file and see how things go!
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=142937\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Success - well sort of.....

I have increased my swapfile to 96MB and am now able to run Freeciv, although it takes a very very very long time to start up!

The graphics and sounds in the new version are excellent - way better than in 1.14.2.

The only problem I am having now (apart from the time it takes to start a game) is keymapping within the game.  I can move diagonally with the cursor pad but can not work out how to move in a straight line.  In the older version keys 1,3,7 and 9 were mapped to move in straight lines, but I cannot work out how to do it in this version.

Any ideas?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=143022\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

- I using a 128MB swap partition, remember this is a beta, is normal to a beta eat so much of RAM
- My Freeciv 2.1beta2 have a nice load time, about 5 seconds, but I using pdaXrom 1.1.0r121
- I go make a new package with Cxx00 CFLAGs.. and O3 and some insane CFLAGs
- When new official release goes up... (2.1.0 final release) I go work in a new key mapping for Zaurus, but for now not, use "G" and stylus for "GO" to any place
- I have played for 2 hours without any crash.

Really this new SDL interface is very rich and more fast then older GTK2 version, I have tried compiled SDL in old freeciv 1.14 and 2.0.8, but without sucess...

# cd /mnt/cf
# dd if=/dev/zero of=swapfile bs=16M count=1
# mkswap swapfile
# swapon swapfile

This makes the file a swapfile instead of the card. Also, the 16M indicates 16 megabytes.

dd is making a file full of zeros bs= bitesize, and count is how many ... it is cleaner to make a smaller bitsize (ie: 1MB) and then use the count to populate how large the file is count=16.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=142856\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I using this command (128MB file):
Code: [Select]
dd of=swapfile bs=1024 seek=128000 count=0
