Software / Tkcvideo On Sl-5500
« on: December 03, 2006, 04:46:57 pm »
Many thanks for your quick responses.

I've just installed VLCplay ipk and I'm pleased to report that it works.

Sound is loud and clear.

Video is jerkier than with tkcVideo, but is good enough for now.

Software / Tkcvideo On Sl-5500

The BBC Questiontime mp4 video podcast, stated to be iPod compatible and downloaded from www.bbc.co.uk/questiontime won't play properly on my Zaurus 5500.

I'm using tkcVideo and although video playback is fine, there's no sound.  However, the file does play OK on my desktop with Xine.

I've also experienced the same problem with other mp4 clips I've found on the web.

By the way, tkcVideo plays MPEG-1 and DivX files without problem on my Zaurus (Sharp v3.1 ROM)

Can anyone give me a link to an mp4 clip that does play correctly with tkcVideo?

Can anyone explain why tkcVideo won't play this video podcast correctly?

Can anyone suggest how I can solve this problem?

Hi,

Just saw these batteries on ebay at £13 Buy-It-Now.

Looks like a reputable supplier.

Search ebay for Zaurus or EA-BL06.

Software / Mindmapping Software For Z Sl-c3000?
« on: July 27, 2005, 12:58:52 pm »
There's a great java based free mind mapping package for Linux called FreeMind.

There's also a java applet available that enables you to embed FreeMind mindmaps in a web page so they can be viewed by any java enabled browser.  Firefox works great.

I think it's so cool.

Maybe someone skilled in the art could compile it for the Zaurus?

More info at:

http://freemind.sourceforge.net

I've put an example FreeMind mindmap up at:

www.assoc.prestel.co.uk

Click the nodes to drill down for more detail & click again to close them.

The ebay seller ID is microphonics.

That's a fair point about dynamic range. The Z5500 has a 16 bit A/D converter, which would only give 48 db dynamic range compared to 72db that you might get from 24 bit technology.

But hey, the microphone only cost about £10 and sounds great for speech.

I'll try to attach an audio clip to this post.

I just bought a high quality miniature electret microphone on ebay from a supplier called microphonics who has a number of these listed.

It seems to work fine on my Zaurus 5500.

Price is competitive.

Tip:  ebay has a feature that enables searching by seller.
