What do you mean by 'crashes'. Does it lockup? Does Qtopia restart?

I've got the Socket Rev F card and it seems to be the most reliable of the lot.

Don't put a password in the configuration and it will ask you for one when you connect. This works with the Sharp ROMs anyway.

Security and Networking / Howto: Ambicom Bt2000c Working On Z

That error usually means something is trying to open an rfcomm device but 'rfcomm bind all' has not been run or there is nothing defined in /etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf. I don't know why the bluetooth script would be trying to open a rfcomm device.

In any case I don't think this is working after all. From what I can gather, although hciconfig reports the card as UP, no further communication with the card can be made. It still needs a specific driver to be written for it.

Sharp ROMs / Sharp Rom For Uk Zaurus
« on: February 22, 2005, 06:29:12 pm »
Sharp UK completely dropped support for the Zaurus some time ago.

In any case, the US ROMs still have the euro and pound signs in the same place. I put the 3.10 ROM on my UK SL-5500 and they still worked. Even on my US 5600, with no euro or pound symbols above the 3 and 4 keys it still works.

The only difference I have seen between the US and UK ROMs is when you first boot up after a full reset, the initial time zone selections on the US ROMs do not include the UK. But this is easily fixed by clicking the globe icon, finding Great Britain, not UK or England, and picking London.

Security and Networking / New Bluetooth Drivers

sornette, thanks for pinpointing that. maslovsky just told me about that too.

I'll see if I can write some commands on resume that work with all cards. The reason for that if statement on resume was to only run those commands when there is a Bluetooth card inserted or was inserted when your suspended. For the non-serial based cards this seems to work.

Does the card automatically eject and reappear when you resume? Look at the CF icon on the taskbar when you resume. If nothing happens to it, did you remember to install the susp-resume and sudo packages too?

Here's a Phone, by Road GmbH called S101, in the style of the Nokia Communicators, but with what looks like a Psion keyboard and with a version that runs Linux kernel 2.6 and Qtopia:

General Discussion / Why 64mb?
« on: February 17, 2005, 04:12:13 pm »
It probably increases power consumption while using your zaurus with working memory that is larger than your available RAM as writing and reading to a flash card requires more power than writing and reading normal RAM. It's not going to doing anything bad to your battery though. If you stop using it, your battery life would go back up again.

There was nothing before that, about a key and showing MAC addresses?

Do you have an existing pairing on your Nokia 6230? You might just need to delete that as it pairs with the MAC address of your Bluetooth card, but the pair key gets stored on your Zaurus and Phone memory.

To debug the issue with your Nokia 6230, you'll have to turn on syslog and look at the messages in /var/log/messages when you try to pair.

To turn on syslog, as root, edit /etc/syslog.conf and uncomment the line that contains *.info (remove the # at the start of the line). Then run '/etc/rc.d/init.d/syslog restart' . This will (re)start syslog and begin logging all the Bluetooth messages to /var/log/messages . Remember to comment that line out again afterwards and restart syslog again as /var/log/messages can get big fairly quickly.

General Discussion / Why 64mb?

More RAM means more power consumption. Since RAM is volatile, the RAM has to be constantly refreshed to keep everything in memory, even when suspended (in fact that's about the one thing that drains the battery when suspended). Doubling or quadrupling the RAM will have a significant impact on an already short battery life.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Bluetooth Blues ...
« on: February 14, 2005, 07:20:12 am »
The new Ambicom card that it sounds like SigmaX has is still NOT working at all. There is no Linux driver for it. You have to look at the 'cardctl ident' output to properly distinguish between the models.

This is a better page with regards to BlueZ CF card support: https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Bluetooth_Card_Support

Someone is working on a driver, but don't hold your breath.
