Zaurus - pdaXrom / Wireless Network With Browser Login
« on: October 23, 2010, 06:43:16 pm »
Is there any secret for getting logged in at locations that require you to login via browser before it gives you
an ip address?

For example, at McDonalds, it requires you do the following:

Connecting is simple: When in the McDonald’s restaurant, just turn on your computer (or PDA), select “Wayport_Access” from the available wireless networks and open the Internet browser. You will be pointed to the McDonald’s splash page where you can select the CONNECT button.

iwconfig shows it connects to Wayport_Access, but I can't get it to give an ipaddress.

Any ideas?

thanks,
Christopher.

TOME (Tales Of Middle Earth) looks interesting too.  It looks like a newer moria/rogue/angband/etc type game.

Updated versions of Make and M4 seem to have made a difference.  The errors I was getting at make are now gone!

Here they are if anyone wants them.  I'm working on a feed to host all of the new stuff I'm compiling, but who knows when I'll get around to it. ;^)

Will these work with beta3?

It looks like capnfish's feed still exists:   http://www.supakewl.com/capnfish/feed/

I'm currently running a C3200 with weeXpc  (Daniel's pdaXrom implementation based off beta3).   What would I need to start
trying to compile stuff for use on that platform?  (or would it be easier to try and patch up to the most recent version?)

thanks,
Christopher.

I think it would be very useful to have a matrix of platforms/ROM versions/Service Packs listed on the repository to aid visitors in getting to the files they want, but I will need some help putting this together.

You might consider putting your matrix in the wiki and updating the relevant pages,
https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=PdaXrom
https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Distributions#pdaXrom

Using the wiki would make it easier for other people to fill in details.

Heh.. the wiki hasn't been updated in like 3 years... wonder why?

Ubuntu / Installing On A 3200 Microdrive?
« on: March 09, 2009, 11:25:07 am »
What about this entry?

# we can use a normal var filesystem with a microdrive
# tmpfs              /var         tmpfs   defaults                0  0
tmpfs              /media/ram   tmpfs   defaults                0  0

I noticed when I did a mkswap that the system seems to preform much snappier (I have a 128mb swap partition, iirc).

Ubuntu / Installing On A 3200 Microdrive?

What changes do I need to make to /etc/fstab to account for booting from a microdrive and/or having swap on the microdrive?
Or better yet... does someone have a sample fstab from a 3200 (or similar) that's running Zubuntu from the microdrive?

thanks,
Christopher.

I've gotten zubuntu working following the instructions to run via the sd card... but
I was wondering what would be needed to get this running via the internal microdrive on my 3200?

I'd like to just have it running from 1 partition on the microdrive.  (I've currently got a swap, / , and a data partition defined)

thanks,
Christopher.

wouldn't your code also try to recursively copy the mounted volume onto itself?

Ok.. I've got zubuntu up and running on the sd card, now I just need to know how to get it running off the microdrive.

thanks,
Christopher.

That web page talks about preparing a sd card, then flashing a multi-boot kernel, then using the multi-boot kernel to boot to the sd card.

I would be only interested in simply replacing pdaXrom with zubuntu... not messing around with multi-boot kernels and booting from sd cards.

That's what I need instructions for  :-)

thanks,
Christopher.

I don't have any special loyalty to one distribution over another... I'd just sorta gotten used to weeXpc (Daniel's adaptation of beta3).
I looked into Zubuntu.. but didn't really understand how to get it to install to the 3200's hard drive.
