When I did it I selected the scatter file first, then did the NVRAM backup, which seemed to work, then proceeded with flashing.

I *think* this is a red herring, just a problem with the account, but T-mobile's reps are very unhelpful. At least the prepaid ones, so I am still not really sure what's going on here.

So I was testing the cellular connection today, able to load several pages and run a google speed test, then a strange little x appeared on the T-mobile LTE indicator and won't go away. Tried a few things, and found that I am able to start pinging just about anything -- it will actually get the right IP for sites -- but it can't actually send any packets. Anyone else run into issues with cellular connections failing?

I'm starting to worry that the carrier may have blocked the device...

Who has tried microSD cards in their Gemini? What seems to be the best, largest card to get at the moment?

I am probably going to grab a few off amazon in the 128GB-256GB range to see what is what and will report back, would be great to see what everyone else has tried first to test as many as we can over time.

Gemini PDA - Android / GNURoot Setup

Yeah so as to the original issue of GNURoot not working too well, installing the Planet computers provided root Android image + Linux Deploy from the app store is definitely the way to go. So far it seems fast enough for me (I have DuraSpeed enabled so maybe that helps?). Glad to have something working. It's quite awesome and a bit weird to see Notepad running on Wine in Debian installed with Linux Deploy on Android on a Gemini PDA.

Gemini PDA - Android / Magisk modules installation?

Has anyone had any success installing Magisk modules?

I am trying to install this module for an ad block hosts file but it fails with a pretty unhelpful error. Weird that this doesn't just work since Planet recommends installing Magisk Manager to finish rooting the device...

I can see this being able to be the One Computer, potentially: I have it hooked up right now to my giant QHD+ monitor and I used developer settings to reduce the DPI and all of a sudden it looks like Linux, with tabs atop Chrome and everything.  Couple that with my mouse and external keyboard and I could comfortably sit at this and code, then take the same machine out and continue in smaller form factor.

Yes! It is fantastic in this setup. For most of my coding I'm not sure I would ever need another machine, once we figure out how to make the software a bit more comfortable.

I'm also seeing key mapping issues in GNURoot which I believe does some similar things as DOSBox would need to. Seems like a Gemini issue, never seen that sort of thing before.

They are looking into it:

Regarding Sophos, we will investigate on our side, but I would [not] worry. WirelessUpdate is the software used to update the Gemini firmware.
It's very much likely that Sophos does not like it as it has higher then usual privileges to handle the firmware update.

We will follow up on this.

Gemini PDA - Android / K-9 Mail Signature

It would be great if everyone using K-9 or other mail clients changed their signature to:

"Sent from my Gemini PDA device with K-9 Mail. Please excuse my verbosity."

(Or similar for non-K-9 users, though I rather like it so far.)

This thing lets me write email exactly how I would at my desktop so no need for the default brevity comment!

I put a prepaid data only T-Mobile SIM in mine and it works great so far. Can't test calls though. I say buy now, this is the best device I have ever purchased except the original Psions.

OESF Wiki / A grand repository of Gemini how-tos is needed

Could we setup the wiki to sync accounts with the forum and only allow making wiki pages after a certain number of posts on the forum? I know... quite a lot of PHP (to say the least) and could help with this perhaps. Integrating the two would be awesome and encourage use of the wiki, for instance linking to wiki pages automatically by page name or pinning wiki pages to forum sections. Lots of ideas.

Gemini PDA - Android / GNURoot Setup

I have been having a hard time getting a usable Linux environment setup under any of the tools I usually use under Android such as GNURoot. Anyone else tried this? I'll post notes here as I figure things out.

Right now trying to update GNURoot Wheezyx package to get wine and a DE installed... seems to not have many packages available for some reason.

Gemini PDA - Android / Android keyboard layout on second batch unit

For what it's worth I had the same problems and had to:

1. Update the Gemini keyboard app
2. Went through the new configure wizard in the keyboard app
3. Restarted -- still wasn't getting the right symbols
4. Went through configure wizard in keyboard app again

Finally started working correctly with my US keyboard layout after this.
