Considering Switching From Cacko->oz Qpe

In case it matters, I have a c860 w/ 1gb of SD memory that I never remove.

One of the reasons I'm considering switching is that I have to use GCC 2.x to compile packages for my Z, and for alot of software thats just not an option any more. Also, the Wireless support in OZ is MUCH better than Cacko IMHO. The primary reason I've chosen OPIE over GPE is because I want/need Japanese handwriting support and I assume this is not available under GPE.

1) Can I enable Japanese language support? Is it similar to how this is done in Cacko?

2) Assuming the answer to #1 is yes, can I still run Jisho? If not, is there another program I can lookup Hiragana with?

3) Are there any problems running Hancom Word/Sheet under OZ 3.5.2?

4) Theres a version of Firefox available for Cacko, but its pretty old (0.6). When searching, I was unable to find any Firefox packages for OZ. Did I not look hard enough, or is there some reason why Firefox/Thunderbird can't exist under OZ?

5) The last time I tried OZ, there was a bug where the brightness couldn't be turned all the way up. I've read that this has been fixed, but are there any other current bugs that I might consider a deal-breaker in terms of switching to OZ permanently?

I'm not scared of dependency-hell or anything like that; I'm willing to put in the time to get my Z working properly. What I need is a mobile tool that provides: browser, SSH terminal, email client (IMAP cache&sync), Japanese dictionary and VoIP (Skype would be ideal, but I'll most likely go with an IAX or SIP client).

I'm currently using Opera, XQT, Firefox .6, Sylpheed, SLJisho, and KPhone. As long as I can get these working under OZ, I'd consider it a huge improvement over Cacko. I'm just afraid of spending hours only to find it can't be done.

In answer to 3, Opie/OZ doesn't run the Hancom apps "out of the box".  There are a couple of "compatibility" libraries you'll need to install.  You also may need to use an older version of the apps as the later ones found on Zaurus User Group do not seem to work.  I tried OZ, and I personally couldn't get the Hancom Apps to work at all, but I was using the "newer ones" because they were all I had.  You can try Opie Sheet.  It's decent enough, but the Hancom App works a lot better "out of the box".  Can't speak on the other issues, though.  I don't use wireless and have never browsed from my Zaurus.  I also don't speak/read/write Japanese, so had no use for that method.
