Import Z Addressbook Into Ka/pi ?
« on: February 23, 2005, 12:21:27 pm »
Using KA/Pi and KO/Pi v2.0.0 on my C3000....works great...

However, I have a long list of contacts that I moved from my C860 to my C3000. So, I'd like to import these contacts into KA/Pi if possible.

When I go to File>Import>Import xml (Qtopia), it asks that I browse and select the file to import.

So my questions are:

A) Is there an 'xml' format file on the C3000?

If so, where is it located??

Thanks for any help!

There is a sync function that is included un ka/pi, you only have to sync with Sharp_DTM and thats should do the work. This way you can sync it often, then sync with intellisync into windows / outlook.

That suppose you copied the .dtm file from your c860 to your c3000 and you have all of them already in the standard addressbook program.

Thanks for your help _Psycho!

Does that mean I can't just use the 'Import' command to do this on my C3000??

Thanks,

Mark

Yes, it means that you just need to use the "Synchronize->Sharp_DTM" menu and it will automagically import all the contact entries that are already in your Sharp builtin address book program. The same menu will then keep both the builtin address book and Ka/PI address book in sync when you later modify the content of either database. (I just discovered this DTM sync trick this evening for Ko/PI, and it worked great with Ka/PI, too...  )

Using the Import menu was what I tried at first, but the C3000 seems not to use the "old" xml format to store the builtin PIM apps databases, but the newer DTM Sharp proprietary format instead, which means that the Import menu is useless in your (and my) particular case, I think.

I'm sure some Zaurus guru will correct me if I'm wrong, anyway!

Hope this helps...
Patrick
