Hi mpak,

Welcome to the Z world. :-)

There\'s already a topic regarding most of what you ask (i.e. how to check if your processor is the 250) at:

BTW, what kind of computer do you have?  I assume it\'s a Windows based machine, correct?

Well, with Windoze XP, you can at least sync the 5600 using the default rom.

For rom flashing, you generally need a CF card, so if you haven\'t purchased one yet I would do so.  (I would purchase a CF card anyway, for file storage and the like when you\'re \'on the go\'â„¢).

Unfortunately, when it comes to different roms on the 5600, there aren\'t that many to choose from.  Some people have (apparently) had success in flashing the OZ 3.3.6-pre1 ROM and making the Z usable under it.  Since I have yet to do any ROM flashing myself, I would advise you to make good use of this site and it\'s search feature to find out what works and what does not.

Same thing with keyboard mapping -- use the search.  It will be your new friend.  :-)

I say either stick with the Sharp ROM, or go with the tkcRom

There\'s another rom called \"Zynergy\" that\'s specifically for the 5600.  It\'s based on the Sharp rom but has some tweaks.  Openzaurus has a nice foundation and lots of nice apps, but it\'s still alpha and unstable on the 5600.  Keep an eye on it for the future though.

eh, Zynergy is a pain in the butt for new users..  not having the Installer to work fine doesn\'t help :/

The only reason I think it may be slower is because of the processor (or some of Sharp\'s Garbage®) that was loaded when you flashed the updated rom.  I would suggest removing all the programs that you don\'t need.

To be honest, I didn\'t bother to flash the newer rom from Sharp\'s site, since the old rom works fine for me.

Another thing too that might spurn some discussion -- is the newer rom optimized for the PXA255 processors only?  Because if it is, it may be why mpak is getting a performance hit somewhere.

Im thinking going back to the older one.But now i have another serius  for me problem.
Sharp rom do not recognize Greek characters, i take empty boxes instead of them, that sucks. So which rom is more localized at least to read?

After flashing the 1.32 some older progrs and mp3 was still there so i imagine that slow speed was a conflict between older and newer roms,i format it and z start flying again.  But i still have localization problem. At least they couldnt include some typical regional settings?
