You should be careful if you wan to buy a laptop, or anything else for that matter, in New York. Do NOT buy it from the "nice" guys at Lafnac Digital Computers on 5 West 42nd Street! They cheat. We bought a laptop at a price of US$ 1500. When we were going to pay for it, the price suddenly had changed to US$ 1699! After some discussion however, we agreed on 1600 $ (which, of course, ce should'nt have). That was before we learned that the lithium battery was not included. Add another 189 $, and the total bill ends at 1944 $(tax included). Well, we decided to buy it, anyway. Compared to the prices in Norway, where we come from, it wasn't such a bad deal.
That was before we came home and checked the specifications. It turned out that the 512 RAM actually was 256, the ATI Graphic card had 32 and not 64 MB as promised, and that the computer was produced nearly two years ago! We simply had not bought the computer Lafnac Digital Computers had sold us! Bill at Lafnacs is a charming salesman, but he and his collegues are less trustworthy than a snake.
The fact that we were naive tourists shopping on 42nd Street, is something else.
