Getting hold of the SL-6000 in the UK
« on: March 22, 2004, 09:06:09 am »
Hi,

I\'m not a Zaurus user yet, almost bought an SL-5500 last year, only to find that no one in the UK had any in stock.
Since then I\'ve being waiting for the SL-6000 to be released, and as they seem to have released it in the US (at least it\'s on Amazon for pre-order). I was wondering if anyone knew how to get hold of this model in the UK?

ShirtPocket seem to only import the clamshell versions from JP, and I can\'t seem to find anyone else...

   Any thoughts....!!

I don\'t know if someone else has already tried this but I mailed sharp (via their feedback form) and got a response back. Unfortunately it is not one that will please us.

Thank you for your email.

As far as we have been able to establish from our Product Marketing teams, there are currently no plans to introduce this model of Organiser to the UK. We are sorry that we are unable to assist you more positively on this occasion.

Kind regards,

Customer Information Centre

Ho Hum.....  That doesn\'t mean they won\'t be available of course but it does mean that we\'ll have to live with imports and pay the associated premium.

I\'ve heard from two UK online retailers that there is a new Z model coming out in the UK at some point, but I haven\'t been able to extract any more information from them.

Shirtpocket might start importing them if they get enough requests. I\'d love one, but simply cannot afford it

I would try ShirtPocket first, then try a US dealer. I was under the impression that the 6000 was not going to be released in the UK or worldwide generally.

C860 Rules!  ;-)
Left Linux and Linux PDAs... sorry, got boring.  Switched to Mac.

Hi One and all,
I sourced my sl-6000L direct from the US.
I will put details up when I find recipt.
It did cost me £65 customs charge but that was ok trisoft.de are charging 849 euros which worked about £593.
I paid $400+$40 to a place could pda spares, huntington,NY.
He shipped as ipaq spares to get round export rules and it took 6 days to my door.

Hello It's me again (SL-6000)
I got my SL-6000 from Huntington N.Y
They got around the export law by selling it as ipaq spares.
When you buy it u get an auction type page and u have to use Paypal.
Bob.

Hello,

Do you have a URL for them?
Unlikely that they'll be able to supply an SL-6000 now, but perhaps a spare battery...
