it occurs to me that this would be a neat way of having a To Do on your Z... install with a local web server, then use web browser to access it.

to use from PC, just ensure Z is on the network and access it remotely.

will think about seeing how difficult it is to port it.

this is a really cool program for handling To Do lists:
http://trimpath.com/project/wiki/NextAction

give the demo a go. it works really well. will try it with opera and netfront to see if it can be run locally.

damn, it crashes opera after loading and showing something useful.

and I can't make netfront open local files.

having actually read how it works, all you have to do is save the page to your local file space... the application is a completely self-contained web page - you re-save the file when you've updated data.

it works directly in the browser, and works with Opera on zaurus (am using cacko 1.23 full-fat).

you could of course access the file remotely from your PC using samba, rather than opera on the Z.

it's not particularly quick, but it is useable.

Speculatrix, do you know why its response is so slow?  Have you found a way to improve it?

Not a bad application.  I can see some uses for it, but I would need a bit better response time.

GTD tiddlywiki can be sped up quite a bit, it seems relatively useable in Opera now. In options, turn off animation.

I've also tried deleting lots of wiki entries, so as to reduce the data set, and that seemed to help, albeit now I can get the error that GTDTW wasn't saved properly.

Oh yeah, you have to remember that since you're not using a mouse, you have to tap on the titles of each tiddly in order to make the buttons appear.

I tried it in netfront but it wouldn't finish loading, netfront insisted I connect to the network and when I denied it, it got upset and terminated loading of the page :-/

what I will try and do is make a stripped-down version of GTDTW available that will run quickly on opera/zaurus, and upload it here.

Did anyone have the problem of not being able to save changes on Opera? Or the file simply not rendering in Netfront?

I have read somewhere that tiddlywiki only works with Opera if you make changes to the java.policy file, but if people have got it working without doing that then that would be better!

Unfortunately as well, the gtd tiddlywiki page seems to be offline...

What about a really fast text version (if possible - I haven't looked at the interface yet), which can be used in links or similar text browsers?

I have tried the java.policy changes suggested on the tiddlywiki site and haven't got anywhere with it. In fact , there are two java.policy files, one in the readonly part of the file system (in Cacko at least) so that one can't be changed.

Could someone who has it working please let me know which version of opera or which other browser, which rom, and the changes (if any) that they had to make to get it to work?

Many thanks

I used it briefly on opera on cacko1.23 + SL-C860, and it seemed ok - tho' I didn't notice any java applet, I always assumed it was just javascript, but I am happy to stand corrected!

It definitely DIDN'T work on netfront browser on cacko.

Curiouser and curiouser...

I'm very jealous that you had it working!

I posted a message to the tiddlywiki google group asking for advice with this and the guy that developed it said he'd never had much luck getting it working with opera.

So, I guess it's another reason to move over to pdaxrom again...
