Transferring Address Book Data
« on: June 30, 2005, 06:58:11 pm »
I've got years worth of contact information on an old Sharp ZR5800 that I'd like to transfer to my SL-5500.  I'm guessing this won't be straightforward - does anyone have any tips or suggestions for me?  The ZR5800 data can be sync'ed to a desktop running a clone of the Sharp software (Rupplynx), and is reportedly compatible with Sidekick, ACT, ...?

Thanks for any advice.

Im not sure about your case.  But I found moving from a PSION to the Z pims a real pain. In the end I settled for exporting the data as a csv spreadsheet and am now using jcards to hold my contacts as its java based and can run on ms and my linux box with the same data file from my Z

See what the 5500 can be sync'ed with, then try to get the data into that format would be my advice.

Outlook used to work for me, so I'd try to get your ZR5800 into Outlook somehow (via Act, etc.),

Then go from there.

Otherwise it may not be too difficult (if you have some programming experience) to write a script which will turn your ZR5800 data into a load of vCards etc.
