Cacko Sources

Sorry if I oversaw something obvious, but where can I
get the Cacko (1.23) sources?

What sources do you want?

The kernel source? it's available from Sharp's Home page and the config file is available from testsu's home page (Cacko 1.23b -for beta) uses the 18a kernel that testsu has available on his site.

If you are looking for sources for the Sharp applications, then there aren't any cause Sharp never released them.

The Cacko specific apps can be found at Anton's site and the mplayer source and diffs can be found at atty's site.

If your after something else on the list let me know and I'll try to point you in the correct direction.

Thanks alot. That was almost what I wanted. Almost because as I understand,
I have to download tetsu's kernel and apply an army of patches.
Or are they already in? And if not - why not?

I thought that then I have to do the same for cacko again, but slowly I
understand, that cacko is another packaging of
apps which goes into the rom (actually - does it? Or just to hte hdd for C3000),
right?

Anyway, you say cacko uses 18a, but on their page it is 17h.
And tetsu has on his page C1000 kernel sources also (as base for 18a).
So which one do I use (for C3000)?
17h seems to be based on C3000 1.01 roms.
And on the sharp page I can only find sources of 1.01, where are the ones
from 1.11?

Cacko 1.23 for the C3k is still in beta stage so it's a moving target.

Last time I read about it iamasmith was recomending users to use tetsu's 18a kernel cause it had better results for video playback.

AFAIK tetsu only has the compiled kernels and the patches (orl inks to patches) that he used to compile it. If you want to compile it yourslef you will need to download and patch the kernel from sharp yourself (why he does this rather than re-tarballing the patched kernel is probably to do with server space, but I don't know for sure). If you just want to run your C3k with that kernel then you can download it and just install it.

Cacko is a jffs2 image that contains most of the original apps with some additions and updates done by the Cacko team. I'm not sure what the installer does on the C3K as it needs to install some stuff to the flash memory and some stuff to the hard disk. (When I had a look at Sharp's upgrade rom it included a tarball of apps and links for the internal drive, I assume Cacko does the same.

For your C3k you need to get the kernel "SL-C3000 special kernel (v18a)" -note this a kernel image not the source, it downloads as zImage-v18a-C3000.bin

I don't think the kernel for the C1k will work on the C3K as there are some hardware differences (ie microdrive).

AFAIK sharp didn't issue an upgrade to the kernel when the upgrade the C3K rom (I assume because the update was only to Sharp's apps not to the kernel).  For a list of all  the source code that Sharp has available see http://developer.ezaurus.com/sl_j/source/source_dl.htm

Sharp also used to offer the rootfs tar ball for the gpl apps, but haven't done that for the C3K or C1K yet.
