Qtopia 2.1 On 6000l
« on: August 09, 2005, 11:46:20 am »
i saw some posts everywhere about new kernel installed in our loved machine.

would it be clearer to centralise them here, only for the 6k?

i flashed mine easily and seems to be really quick to cold boot.
wifi pb could be fixed by modifying a file but i don't know how to use VI to modify it.

the most pb is about the ipk witch are not installing at all, 95% of them refused to .
my humble impression is that the signature of the ipk is looking for a 1.6 kernel and stops when he find the 2.1.
so all ipks will have to be re-compiled?

things are moving for our toy, godd news isn't it?

your impressions/solution to follow

thanks

I've been eyeing the 2.1.2 release and wondering: Should I?

Problem is, I don't know quite what to do with the Wifi config to get it working, and the whole ipk problem -- a big one, considering the feedback from most everyone who's installed QT 2.1.x -- is really off-putting. The QT website promises complete back-compatibility, but in the likely event that even one of my current apps resfuses to install, it's not really worth the move, in my opinion.

I'd like to hear reports from others re: their success or failure with this on the 6000. Or do I sense a mass migration away from QT altogether and toward pdaXrom?
