3.5.3 "ipkg Upgrade" Used All Of Available Ram
« on: May 19, 2005, 09:21:15 am »
On a 5500 with 3.5.3 "ipkg upgrade" used all available ram and then errored on the remaining packages. There were about 500k bytes free. It does not seem reasonable that the upgrade packages were that much larger. What hapened? Why was the space not released?

What is the safe way to upgrade packages?

Thanks,
Dan

I'm in a similar situation..

what I'm thinking is if we can find the location where the packages get downloaded to and move that off root via a symlink...

so far thou, I haven't had much luck...

Not RAM, flash ROM I presume you mean.

The jffs2 needs to keep some free space for house-keeping.

Upgrade the packages individually.
