Ruby 1.8.3 Preview For Sharp-roms
« on: June 22, 2005, 04:47:41 pm »
I found a Japanese website with sharp-rom-based ipkgs for the preview of ruby 1.8.3. The author claims to have gotten ruby on rails to run as well.

Here is the Japanese-language website: http://d.hatena.ne.jp/thata/

Here is a  Google translation

Here is an image from that website that shows ruby on rails running on a sharp-rom:

I uninstalled the ruby 1.8.0 version and installed the lib and bin ipks from ruby 1.8.3 on the above website.

Ebt still seemed to work with the existing ruby-qt. Plus, I was able to get the  Soks-Wiki to work as well. I haven't tried anything else yet.

Soks wiki worked on the SL-C3000 with ruby 1.8.2  (see [a href=\"http://www.sibelle.info/gadgets/soks.htm]http://www.sibelle.info/gadgets/soks.htm ). Do Instiki or Pimki  work with the 1.8.3 (supposedly they should work with 1.8.1 or greater but never would for me...)??

I just tried instiki-0.10.1 and it seemed to run just fine.

Can s/o ipk the new ruby 1.8.3?  I would love it!***
*******Update******
Okay, I went to the web site - I d/l the two ruby ipk's, but I am used to one ipk.  Do I just install it per usual?  Is it in two files cuz it has become larger? or is that the extra rails stuff. ?   I tried rails on the XP, and got it to the welcome screen.  It is cool to see it on the Z!

ruby on rails is a add-on to ruby ( a so-called ruby 'gem' ) that is supposed to make web application development much easier. see [a href=\"http://www.rubyrails.org]Ruby on Rails for more info, tutorials.
