IRK and Pocketop Keyboard Rotation Question
« on: August 05, 2004, 05:06:41 pm »
Hi all,

Recently upgraded my Z to the new Sharp V3 ROM (was originally on ROM 2.37)

What I've now found after my upgrade, is that the screen rotation is upside down and backwards.

It worked fine prior to the upgrade, so I was wondering if this is a bug or is there something I have to tweek with the new ROM, etc etc??

I'm running all of the latest releases from the IRK site.

I did a search to see if anything like this has been mentioned, but didn't see anything (could have missed it).

Thanks in advance!

This is a fault with the Sharp v3 ROM's.

A work around (for using with an IR keyboard) is to install this rotated fonts package. This will make the rotated fonts display correctly when rotated for use with IRK.

IRK and Pocketop Keyboard Rotation Question

Hi cwaig. Figured I revive an old thread instead of creating a new one. I've installed the qt-embedded-rotation by itself & the fonts are reversed in the counter-clockwise direction, qt-embedded-rotation-fix reverses them in the clockwise position, and installing both seem to just leave the fix in effect. Is there any way to have both rotations fixed? thks

None that I know of - the V3 ROM has a serious fault in the rotation support, so you can only have one or the other.

IRK and Pocketop Keyboard Rotation Question
« Reply #5 on: August 03, 2005, 07:09:44 pm »
hmmm ... I cannot seem to even have the display rotate. I installed rotate_0.0.2_arm.ipk and when I click on the rotate icon, my Z5500 shows the hour glass, reboots and then comes back to QTopia without any change in orientation.

I am using a Z5500 with stock Sharp ROM 3.10.

Any advice or ideas? Thanks!

EDIT:   wierd as it seems. I just uninstalled and reinstalled the package and now it works!

EDIT: hmmm ... rotate_0.0.2_arm.ipk turns the Z5500 to the right so that the irda/SD slot is on top. But in this mode, the fonts and flipped flopped!  ... rotate_0.0.1_arm.ipk turns the Z5500 to the left, with the irda/SD on the bottom and the fonts are correct. hmmm ... oh well, at least I can use it this way with the belkin ir keyboard.

Now I just need to get the IRK driver working ...
