Running A Dos Fox Application On Zaurus
« on: November 09, 2005, 02:27:51 pm »
I was wondering..... most of the zaurus have 32 MB or more of RAM and speed of 200Mhz and up.  Much more that the old XT's or AT's used to have (remember when 286 and 386's were around....)

Is it possible to run old foxbase applications on the zaurus? It would be cool to use this as a DOS shell that brings DOS apps to live.

Any ideas? Where should I look?

Regards,

yes, you can use bochs or qemu. search the forum for those names.

basically, on your PC, install one or the other, create a virtual disk (for DOS say 16MB, not too big so as to fit in the zaurus' memory). install DOS and the application in the qemu or bochs image. copy the image to the Z, and run it.

and yes, you'll find you'll get the equivalent of a 386!
