Trouble With Ambicom Wl110c
« on: January 10, 2006, 09:25:53 am »
hi,

i am trying to get my newly aquired ambicom to work using 128bit WEP to my netgear DG824M.

it nearly works; wellenreiter can see my other wifi cards + gateway using wlan0. it has connected once (and was then fine for ages). light on card continually flashes, and gateway doesn't show it as connected.

udhcpc is loaded, but never gets an ip; both on wifi0 and wlan0.

anyone had problems like this? any ideas?

WiFi Troubleshooting 101

- Turn off WEP / WAP and MAC filters on your AP
- Try to connect

If the connection is established:
- reenable MAC filters and WEP one after another to check at which step the connection fails. A mistyped MAC is a b*tch to detect at times

If the connection fails:
- double and tripple check that MAC filters and WEP are disabled on your WAP
- Really, I mean it. Check again.
- Try a different channel. Another WAP might be running nearby messing with your signal on the same channel. Use channel "6" if it is unused.
- Try not to conduct your tests while that microwave oven runs in the kitchen

On a sidenote:
Do not EVER touch the "wifi0" device in the configuration
If you did, trash the config file and try again.
