Can Anyone Recommend Good Cf Cards
« on: November 11, 2005, 11:35:44 am »
I'm looking to add a CF lan card to my Zaurus SL-5500. Can you guys recommend some good compatible cards? I'm looking for both wired and wireless lans, speed isn't an issue (I don't care if the wired is only 10mb as oppossed to 100mb or the wireless is 11 as opposed to 54). I saw a 3Com 3CF1 or something like that on clearance at a place online somewhere for like $10 (it's an older 10mb wired CF lan card) but I'm not sure if it's compatible. Is there a "known compatible hardware" list somewhere?

Thanks
Marc

I use a Senao NL-2511CF Mercury CF WLAN card with my zaurus SL-5600 running openzaurus 3.5.3, and it works just fine. For a list of supported wireless cards, see the Zaurus FAQ.

Cool, thanks. I saw on www.myzaurus.com that for wired lan cards the Socket and Pretec cards are approved compatible or whatever, and I found a brand new Socket card (Same model number and everything) on ebay for about 40 bucks, so hopefully it won't give me any trouble. Anyone have any experiece with that card?

Check the list you've been pointed at, yeah; but my AmbiCom WL1100C-CF worked out of the box with the 3.13 ROM. Plenty fast enough.

Hi. I just purchased a D-Link DCF-660W from Ebay. It one of the ones on the Wireless Card Support page, I think the one listed above: Wireless Card Support. It really worked great, right out of the box. No more surfing the Web through USB from the cradle   All I needed to do was go to Network under Settings (Opie 3.5.2), choose 'Configure' for wlan0, and choose 'Automatically bring up' under TCP/IP.

Good luck!

Hi,
Silencer51; What's the model No. of your Symbol CF WiFi Card?

I've just bought one from ebay (still shrink wrapped) and I cannot get it to work with OZ on my 5600, I've spent many hours trying different things without any success.

Thanks,
Robert Jenkins.

I'm using TRENDnet adapter TE-CF100.
It works fine for my 6000 (sharp rom and pdaxrom). However I haven't tried it with my 5500.
