Wlan Doesn't Work, Host Name Looup Failure
« on: December 31, 2005, 10:51:25 am »
Hello,
i tested my Zaurus Sl 5500 with tkcrom and have no problems with the D-Link DCF 660.
Browse the Internet and Mails.
With Hentges 3.5.3 and Cardfilesystem on SD-Card I get the IP from the DHCP-Server.
ping 192.168.0.5 (Suse Server) says after 20min(!) only host name lookup failure. ???
I flashd the ROM five times and more with three downloads of Opie 3.5.3.
Two Kernels (64-0 and 48-16) and don't find the problem!

route add default gw 192.168.0.5 wlan0 brings zero resault

What can i do?

Greetings
Jürgen

I seem to remember that there was a missing file in /etc, might have been /etc/resolv.conf which would explain the lack of a nameserver, but not the fact that you get that message when you ping with an IP address.

What does 'route' show after you add the gateway? Can you ping the Zaurus from the network? What does 'ifconfig' show?
