Back in October of last year, I searched for several days for a really detailed map of the state of Illinois. I was searching for PDF format maps. Later, I found this one, (pics below). It is a vector map made in Illustrator, and saved as a PDF. It has very good zoom levels and details. I looked at it in Acrobat, then decided to disassemble it in CorelDraw. (It had railroads on it that, when zoomed in real close, made big, fat lines on it). I was using Picsel Browser on my Palm Zire 72 to view it. (320x320 screen).
In CorelDraw, I removed all the "railroad" objects, regrouped it, and saved it to PDF.
On that 320x320 screen, I can zoom all the way out, to where the whole state fits on the screen. And zooming all the way in, (8 times), I can see secondary roads in very good detail.
I don't remember where I found this map, but want to know if anyone knows where to find maps of this quality, in this format? I want to get more states.
I know I can find JPGs, GIFs, BMPs, (raster format), but these lose detail when zoomed at high levels. That's why I'm looking for Illustrator built maps in either PDF, AI, or PS EPS formats. (Vector format)
Below screenshots are taken from my desktop, and look exactly the same as they do on my Palm, using Picsel Browser. I would take screenshots of these on my Palm, but I have Picselaccelerator running on my Palm, and it prevents screenshots while Picsel Browser is running. (It, disables all background processes while Picsel is running). It's also difficult to uninstall/reinstall.
These screenshots are at "Zoomed all the way out" and "Zoomed in 8 times"
Oh, by the way, All zoom levels between these have fine detail also.
EDIT: If someone wants this map, I can upload it to someone, I don't have a webpage. It's 585kb
EDIT2: This map will NOT open in qpdf2_freetype. I'm waiting for Picsel Browser for Zaurus to arrive. I ordered it last week.
